Description

"A glamorous cruise on a luxurious ocean liner turns deadly in the latest mystery from "Queen of Suspense" and #1 New York Times bestselling author Mary Higgins Clark. Fleeing a disastrous and humiliating arrest of her husband-to-be on the eve of their wedding, Celia Kilbride, a gems and jewelry expert, hopes to escape from public attention by lecturing on a brand-new cruise ship--the Queen Charlotte. On board she meets eighty-six-year-old Lady Emily Haywood, "Lady Em," as she is known throughout the world. Immensely wealthy, Lady Em is the owner of a priceless emerald necklace that she intends to leave to the Smithsonian after the cruise. Three days out to sea Lady Em is found dead--and the necklace is missing. Is it the work of her apparently devoted assistant, Brenda Martin, or her lawyer-executor, Roger Pearson, and his wife, Yvonne, both of whom she had invited to join them on the cruise? Or is it Professor Henry Longworth, an acclaimed Shakespeare scholar who is lecturing on board? Or Alan Davidson, a guest on the ship who is planning to spread his wife's ashes at sea? The list of suspects is large and growing. Celia, with the help of her new friends Willy and Alvirah Meehan, who are celebrating their forty-fifth wedding anniversary, sets out to find the killer, not realizing that she has put herself in mortal danger before the ship reaches its final destination. Never, in all her long career as a #1 bestselling suspense novelist, has Mary Higgins Clark been in better form"-- "A glamorous cruise on a luxurious ocean liner turns deadly in the latest mystery from "Queen of Suspense" and #1 New York Times bestselling author Mary Higgins Clark"--… (more)

A quick, fun read that takes us on a first class voyage on the high seas. Lady Emily Haywood travels aboard a new luxury ocean liner, the Queen Charlotte, and plans to wear her priceless emerald necklace. Several of the guests have interests in it, and several would do anything to have it. Joining

Typical MHC. You know what you're getting when you pick up a book of hers to read.

Some very entertaining edits made by an earlier reader in the book, and are documented in my instagram feed (bookczuk).

Not much substance to this book. Characters were moderately developed and the storyline had a few twists. All-in-all, a good, no brain needed, who dunit.

One week on a maiden voyage of a luxury ocean liner with the rich and famous. A priceless ancient artifact makes the journey and someone is murdered for it. I felt like the dialogue in this book, at times, was more like interviewer to interviewee; however, I was able to move past that. I liked this

story. Even though I was right about who the murderer was, I found myself wavering throughout guessing is it this person or is it this person? Mary Higgins Clark is one of my favorite authors of all time and I would definitely recommend this book.

All by Myself Alone is a nice mystery story. It takes place today on a very fancy cruise ship. The characters are all believable. The setting is believable. The problem is that one wishes something would happen or that the cruise was over already. All of the characters stories are concluded at the

end with the bad guy being caught. It is a nice three star book, not a badf story just not stellar.

Very consistent Mary Higgins Clark book. This one had me guessing almost until the end though.
