Tomie dePaolaa’s appealing art perfectly complements John Grahama’s rhythmic text spoken by a little boy to the animals he loves, beginning with a mouse who he tells he would take care of with a furry nest and a nibble of cheese. He goes on to a kitten, a puppy, a lamb, a bunny, and other

familiar baby animals until it is getting dark and his father picks him up and gently and lovingly puts him to bed.

This is a very good Children's book. It is a story about a little boy who goes out and sees various animals starting with a mouse. He tells each animal that he loves them and also tells them what he would do with them if he were that animal too.

The print in this book for the young reader could be a

little bigger but, it is well balanced with the illustrations so it is easy to spot the words for the young reader and give them the ability to sound them out if need be.

I happen to like the way this book was written and the message it includes because there is an innocence there that I feel has been lost in today's world. It was just refreshing to read something so pure.

A worthwhile read and a good book for the beginning reader to enjoy.

Charming, delightful, perfect for sharing any time.

Highly recommended.
