Great book written in an easy read manner. Encouraging.

A book about prayer, basically. Sound, fairly interesting, with some good anecdotes. Quite encouraging; if nothing new, it was a useful reminder of how important it is to pray for our loved ones and situations in general.

I felt it went a little downhill at the end with a chapter about Revival

which didn't really say much, and somewhat contradicted itself. I then found the appendices, about setting up a 'prayer ministry' so overwhelmingly complex and structured that I mentally and emotionally backed off!

Somehow the writing style made it feel like an early 1980s book, although to my surprise it was first published in 1991. Not that it's a topic that dates, particularly, other than the appendixes where the author recommended, among other things, a 'rolodex' - I had to Google to find out what one of those was.

On re-reading just three years later I found it quite inspiring and helpful although, once again, I found the appendices daunting in their detail.

Recommended to anyone wanting an in-depth look at prayer. The author addresses some tricky questions that are often asked about prayer, with a clear and friendly style, concluding that while God does not need us to pray, he undoubtedly uses prayer.
