Excellent fictional account based on biblical text of king Hezekiah of the Old Testament. Very thought provoking.

King Hezekiah is trying to embrace God's Law and lead his country the way Yahweh would want him too. But it isn't easy to do, when he doesn't have a lot of encouragement from his leaders. The Assyrian army is sweeping through the land and Jerusalem is trying to prepare for the attack.

Jerusha, a young Jewish woman who has been taken by the Assyrians. She watches their murderous, evil ways and becomes their slave, with no hope of escape. But the Lord does answer her prayer and she will find her way to Jerusalem with her sister. How God works in her life, in the life of Hezekiah and in the life of a man named Eliakim shows the power of God and our need of total dependence and faith in Him and His abilities. I like how the author brings out how life was lived out at this time of history.
