Miranda must be something. It was the last word spoken by a scientist who had just been shot by his twin brother. Miranda was not Danielle Roark, Senator’s daughter; kidnapped and now found by one Range Metcalfe, brother to many more Metcalfe’s but uncertain of his older brother Canyon (Mom had

a thing for nature names). Canyon who stole his high-school sweetie. Canyon who went to Tres Kruces and came back with more secrets than medals. Canyon who shut out the whole family permanently.

Range found Dani floating in the ocean after she escaped the clutches of a General Bruton. She was badly beaten, badly used and near death. He fell in love immediately. Bad idea. She clings to him for support but he misreads her clues and plans his future.

Canyon’s family has a sort of slogan – No one steps on Range’s plans. Oops. The minutes Canyon and Dani see each other it’s all over but the vows. And a hell of a lot of fighting bad guys, nearly dying (again) taking off from the Unit and, in Canyon’s case, getting kicked off his team.

And then there is Miranda. What’s up with that? Who/what is she/it and where? All this and more become all too clear as Canyon and Dani try to solve the riddles of her kidnapping, his betrayal on the Tres Kruces job and one other little item from three years ago.

Wolfsbane by Ronie Kendig tells the story of Demolitions expert Danielle "Dani" Roark and Green Beret Canyon "Midas" Metcalf. While on assignment in Venezuela with the Army Corps of Engineers, Dani is captured and brutalized by a politically-powerful general. After she escapes captivity and turns

in evidence revealing his corruption, her world is turned upside yet again when she is seen as a co-conspirator rather than a victim. Canyon and his team of elite warriors are charged with the task to escort Dani back to the place of her worst nightmares in order to prove her innocence. Along the way, Canyon and Dani form a bond neither one sought. A wonderful novel depicting love and redemption that is both heart-pounding and heart-warming.

Review:Wolfsbane by Ronie Kendig
5 STARS
Is the 3 book in the disguarded heroes by Ronie Kendig. It is the first book that I have read I believe from her but not the last. The book had lots of action it also had almost another story going on at same time that was a little confusing but worked out
Show More
great in the end. It is a clean romance with human beings making mistakes.
Roark has been kidnapped and held in a Venezuelan rebel army. She been beat up and raped many times.
She was able to escape finally and brought with her proof of what was going on down their. In testimony on the hill they thought she was the traitor and working with General. Roark father is a US Senator and looking for a run to the White House. He volunteered her to go back with Special OPS team and get proof.
Canyon Midas Metcalfe was also testifying on the hill but he kept the secrets he was ordered to. About a operation that went wrong in the philippines. He was a former Army Special Forces Group. Because of what happened he was maybe facing charges and was kicked out of Army. But he was a member of Nightshade team a Black OPs team. Not even his family knew what he did now. He was listening at Roark testimony and was attracted to her and she to him.
Canyon brother a member of Coast Guard rescued her out of ocean really liked her and asked her out. While at his parents house at a party Roark got word they wanted to send her back to get more proof she slit her wrist. Canyon a medic sewed her up . They had a few encounters and it was his team sent in to escort her and get proof.
Things kept going wrong one adventure at a time. Kept you reading and not wanting to put book down. Really recommend this book. Can't wait to read more of her books.

she have worth killing for? Haunted, former Green Beret Canyon Metcalfe is fighting off nightmares of a operation gone bad. When he’s thrown back into the jungle on a Nightshade mission, he must push the memories aside to rescue Dani. Will he lose another woman to the cruelty of warfare?
I was immediately drawn into this story. The characters were believable and the story was well written. I enjoyed the Metcalfe family and the believability of the difficult nature of the events that Danielle had gone through there were parts that were challenging to follow until about ½ way through the story and this mad following the action a hindrance at times. I thought that the similarities of experience between the main characters were played subtle until they were resolved. It was a great nail biting story that was worth following until the end.
I would like to thank Net Galley and Barbour Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

What a great series this has been! The first two books in this series have been great, but this one so far is my favorite. The fast-paced, gripping action going on makes you want to stay glued to your story until the very end. The "Nightshade" team of soldiers are a group of men that live up to a

code of honor, but who also all have secrets and tragedies in their lives that they are learning to deal with.

In this story former Green Beret medic Canyon "Midas" Metcalfe is going to have to learn how to handle a feisty Dani Roark, who was with the Army Corps of Engineers when she was captured in Venezuela, taken into captivity into the jungle for 6 months, managed to escape with her life and some secrets and now is being accused of espionage and must return to Venezuela to prove her innocence.

A lot will go wrong on this Nightshade mission and there is a lot of family issues and heartache to deal with, a broken promise that will need to be resolved and a lot of courage and strength in people will be revealed. In the midst of all this there is a strong bond of love that will hold together until the very end in this gripping action packed adventure that will leave you wanting to read more. This series has grown better and better and I anxiously await the next book, "Firethorn".

medic Canyon Metcalfe is haunted by memories of the past. Drawn to Danielle, he pushes for Nightshade, his team, to accompany Danielle on the mission. Things go terribly wrong from the beginning of the mission and once he and Danielle are seperated from his team members, the chances of survival appear slim. Fighting mistakes of the past and present, Canyon must persevere without distraction to save Danielle's life. Will he be strong enough for both of them? Or is he condemned to fail because of all of his past mistakes?

I almost passed over the opportunity to review Wolfsbane by Ronie Kendig, but I am so glad I didn't. I generally don't go for military/war type stories. However, this one was so good, I'll probably be borrowing the rest in the series from the local library very soon. The suspense of the plot is tantalizing while the vivid characters are extremely real. No idealized or superficial characters here. Danielle and Canyon both make mistakes, but ultimately, the story is about owning up to those mistakes and trusting God to take care of the rest. There were a few plot twists that I wasn't expecting and it elevated the seriousness of the story. Overall, a great read for fiction and romance lovers alike.

Title: Wolfsbane (Discarded Heroes #3)
Author: Ronie Kendig
Pages: 440
Year: 2018
Publisher: Task Force Press
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This third novel in the series focuses not only on the black ops team but on one of the members known as Canyon. Canyon’s life has been anything but gold even though
Show More
his teammates called him Midas. Canyon becomes entangled with an Army Demolitions expert named Danielle Roark. Not only is there a rivalry between Canyon and his brother for Roark’s attention, now Canyon must take Roark back to where she escaped from to prove her evidence is in fact a reality.
Now, back in the jungle, with enemies all around, separated from other help and in pain what are Canyon and Danielle to do? What Danielle learns through her return to her prior place of captivity from certain revelations will most definitely grab readers attention and emotions!
Ronie shows how human a believer is when one of the characters fails to run from temptation and how the ripples from that moment spread, causing division in many relationships. The suspense in the story is high octane. Trust me, it was hard to take a break and go to sleep at night! The one strong theme throughout the story is God’s forgiveness and the restoration God can bring into a life when one repents, and yields control of one’s life into God’s hands.
I am now reading Firethorn, which is the fourth book in the series and it is just as riveting as the other books have been. So, if you need stories that are outstanding, here is a series you won’t regret reading or forget anytime soon!

My rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
Canyon Metcalf, or Midas, has been dishonorably discharged from the service. All he has wanted to do has been to serve his country as a member of the military. Now, his dream has been
Show More
taken from him after he was forced into remaining silent, taking the blame for something he didn’t do, and he can’t tell anyone about it. Now, he has been recruited to serve as a member of Nightshade, a secret black ops team. His next mission is to go to Venezuela to discover if a known drug lord and gun runner is assembling nuclear arms. He also must protect the only witness to this information to survive, Danielle Roark. He is attracted to her immediately but tries to keep his distance as he knows his brother is interested romantically in Dani.
Danielle Roark is a demolitions expert for the Army and escaped six months of brutal captivity with information about the guerilla commander’s amassing the materials to make nuclear bombs. Capital Hill has doubts as to her story and gives her one chance to prove her story or she will face charges of treason against the United States. Her one chance is to return to the place of the worst experiences of her life…the Venezuelan jungle headquarters of her sadistic captor. Dani would rather die than return, and she almost does. She feels safe with Canyon and also feels something she never thought she would again, attraction. Dani can’t afford to return without proof, so she fights with everything she has the jungle, guerillas out to kill her and her fear of being recaptured.
Wow! Talk about action! This novel has non-stop, heart-pumping, adrenaline-inducing suspense. One intense scene follows another. The writing and character development were superb. The emotional involvement from me was full-bore. Canyon and Dani’s doubts, guilt, anger, grit, survival mode and more will keep readers completely engaged. The one thing that I wasn’t comfortable with was how far the physical relationship went between the two main characters. I know people make mistakes, and this definitely showed God’s ability to restore a right relationship with him after repentance, but it still made me uncomfortable. If it wasn’t for that encounter, I would have rated this 5 out of 5 stars. The story has a lot going on to keep readers’ minds alert for the surprises in the plot. Dani’s ability to return to the scene of her horrible captivity took an incredible amount of internal strength. Canyon’s past, colliding with his future, also called him to step up and be the man God created him to be. I can’t wait to read book four, Firethorn, and discover Legend’s story.
