User reviews
The writing here is a bit amateurish, but what do I care? It's a great idea for a story sweetly done.
I actually found some of the writing humorous where it wasn't meant to be. And it could use some pizazz in its structure and sentence construction. However, the concept is so great - an American goes to Oxford University, meets a new Inklings group, and falls in love - that the writing can be forgiven and a reader can be thankful the book somehow made it into print given today's stinky narrative/content standards
American Kate Hughes has come across the water to be a student at Oxford University and is in for an adventure of her life. She has a fellow student, Lord Stuart Devereux who is trying to woo her, and has also caught the eye of her tutor, David MacKenzie, a handsome professor and leader of the Inklings Society (which you will learn a lot about by reading this book). These two gentlemen will woo Katie, but in two very different ways. I was wrapped up in the setting of this book and in the characters and loved the charm and chivalry of one young gentleman and his desire to do things the godly way. It was refreshing and romantic and I look forward to reading the next book in this series, "Expectations". Cheerio!
