Description
When Megan Juddman learns that "friendly fire" killed her husband in the Gulf War, guilt and bitterness consume her -- guilt over a shameful secret she harbors and bitterness over a suspected government cover-up. After escaping to her hometown, Twisp, in eastern Washington, she meets Tharon Marsh, a decorated officer in the Gulf War who has also come to the valley to bury a painful past. Their friendship grows towards something deeper until Megan discovers Tharon's terrible secret: he ordered the fire that killed her husband. Their personal turmoil increases when the disasters of the September11, World Trade Center attacks, thrust the country into a new war and Tharon is recalled to active duty. Tension reaches the breaking point when, over Megan's protests, her troubled eighteen-year-old son enlists. Will Megan be able to relinquish her hold on the past and find a way to forgive?… (more)

This is a story of Meagan Juddman (although she isn't a Juddman when the story begins). Megan finds herself between two wars during this story. One involving her husband and the next one her son. Meagan eventually comes to terms with not liking being a wife and mother of someone in the service for our country. Life is just so hard when you have to sacrifice so much. There will be lies, deception, secrets and sorrow, but in the midst of all that there is also a strong bond of love that cannot die and a strong dependence on the only one who can really be there for you regardless of circumstances, and that is the Lord. I won't ruin it for those who don't read the back cover with what happens, but you will understand and feel for Meagan and the life she had and has. A heartfelt story where people find hope and strength and forgiveness in the midst of war.
