I haven't read Archer in a few years, and now I can't remember why not! Excellent tangle of a story! Set in several locations in 1988, the protagonists are all
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Harper 360, HarperCollins via NetGalley. Thank you!
Thank you NetGalley and Harper 360/HarperCollins for a copy.
The theft and forgery of art works and an unscrupulous millionaire art collector appear to figure prominently in one of the cases. Unfortunately, he had been pronounced dead two months previously.
One section explains what’s necessary for a museum or gallery to borrow a piece of art. It mentions the art stolen from Jews during the Holocaust, many of which still have not been returned.
There are interesting characters and twists and turns but the story seems familiar.
The story is part art heist, deception, and the chase of the criminals.
Some of it was tedious, and it seemed a bit of a departure from earlier Archer books. I still love Jeffrey Archer and his books, but this one wasn't my favorite. Perhaps I will enjoy book 5 better.
As per usual, this latest offering of Jeffery Archer was fast-paced, intriguing and well-written, and kept me interested from the first page. There was a lot going on and I enjoyed hopping from country to country. I also thought Warwick was a worthy protagonist. An entertaining read.
