The disappearance of three private school teachers becomes a homicide case when one of the three women turns up in a seedy motel room . . . murdered. While Lindsay Boxer is involved in the case, her husband, Joe Molinari, searches for a notorious war criminal seen walking the streets of San

Francisco.

When Lindsay and journalist Cindy Thomas compare notes, there are unexpected revelations about the victims. At the same time, Joe’s informant vanishes, hinting at an international crime operation. Can Joe, Lindsay, and the Women’s Murder Club find the answers while protecting their city . . . and themselves . . . from a monster?

All the expected characters are in place in this, the eighteenth book in the Women’s Murder Club series. The relentless pace of the story builds suspense; the short chapters ramp up the tension. As the story builds on previous books in the series, the strong characterizations are a strength of the story; however, there is less interaction between the Murder Club ladies than might be expected.

There’s not much backstory for readers new to the series, nevertheless, it stands well on its own. With a twisting plot and unexpected reveals, readers will find themselves pulled into the telling of the tale until they’ve turned the final page.

Recommended.

This is not a typical "Women's Murder Club" novel. The girls meet once, maybe twice. Yuki is in the story for about a chapter. Cindy has about three appearances. Claire is in a little more than the other two because she is the medical examiner, and let's face it, bodies add up. But this story is

more a murder investigation with Boxer and Conklin and an FBI investigation with Joe. The story starts 5 years ago, but the epilogue is current. Again, this was a good book, but not your typical Women's Murder Club.

Nice fast pace, things fell into place very neatly at the end for our heroes but hey, they probably reached the quota of pages needed. Kinda reminded me of the GOT finale. A bit flat!!!

Written differently than the other Woman’s Murder Club books, this one takes us back 5 years for Lindsey and Joe’s current investigation.
I found it a bit hard to follow at first due to missing characters and relationships not where they had been.
A decent plot, but just not sure why it was
Show More
moved back 5 years earlier, since there has been no mention previously of this case.

A typical quick read Woman’s Murder Club book. Perfect for while on a plane. A little less of the core character development and interaction. In its place was a bit of the atrocities committed in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. This was deftly woven into the story.

These books are not the type

whose plot lines I remember two weeks after the book is finished but they are consistently page turners .

A Bosnian War criminal is found living in California, and it doesn't look like he's turned over a new leaf. But how to prove it?

Another solid Women's Murder Club entry for James Patterson! Although this novel didn't really have a lot of the club members in it, it was still an enjoyable and fast-paced read. It kept my attention, and I finished it in just a few hours.
Both Lindsay and Joe are working cases that end up tied to

each other. Lindsay is trying to find 3 missing schoolteachers, and Joe is trying to assist a Serbian American bring down an evil man who was responsible for many atrocities in Serbia. Both cases eventually cross each other.
This is a story that is mostly told "5 years earlier", with the final episode back in current day.
I really enjoyed this novel, and thought it was well done.

Nice fast pace, things fell into place very neatly at the end for our heroes. The story features Lindsay and Joe, with minor part played by the coroner buddy and little said from the others. The ending was suspenseful and unexpected.
