Style Characterisics: Pacing, clarity, structure, narrative devices, etc.
The flashback method creates a good amount of suspense as the pieces eventually fall into place. The storyline is somewhat predictable, though the way the murder is explained is interesting. The Christian element is strong--this is essentially a redemption story--but plausible. I loved the Topeka scenes, and I couldn't detect any glaring errors in his depiction of the town. The romantic element was also pretty predictable. Everitt isn't the deepest of characters, but deep enough to be realistic.
