Excellent account of the Great Depression as experienced by real people. The anecdotal pages that conclude the book poignantly underscore the depth of the emotions each of the characters lived and the strength from God they relied on to get them through.

I've just finished reading Shiloh Autumn, a book that's related to but not a part of the Shiloh Legacy series by Bodie and Brock Thoene. I loved this book. Loved it. After reading the Shiloh Legacy series, the Tucker and Canfield families felt like old friends to me. I wept for their sorrows and

rejoiced for their joys, and I really hated to reach the end of the book. As always, the historical aspects of the Thoenes' writing are meticulously researched, and the characters just come to life on the pages. It's also refreshing to read a book, a series, that affirms and shares my values and beliefs, and leaves me remembering that God walks with His children through life's ups and downs.

A sequel to the Shiloh trilogy by Bodie Thoene, this is also complete in itself although it makes more sense when read as a sequel. Set in the early 1930s, as the American economy collapses, with a Christian message and a good picture of everyday life for small-town people.

Interesting; gripping in

places, but in a way I wish I hadn't read it after the trilogy as there were some rather upsetting subplots.
