A book with dreamy art and simple text, DAWN would make a good opening read in a storytime on the theme of camp-outs (a topic of great interest to most preschoolers I've known).

Like Rain, Rain Rivers, the illustrations here are less quaint and more dynamic, perhaps because the minimal action - sunrise and the transition from dark to light - holds little threat, and the main characters are cozily tucked in their blankets.
