Beautifully illustrated with a strong message about being yourself and not believing that other people are always better. Edward the Emu believes being an emu is boring and experiments with being some of the other animals at the zoo before realising that being an emu is best for him. The rhyming

text is perfect for reading aloud to toddlers. Lovely book.

Annotation: Edward was a lonely emu who was bored of being in the zoo and especially hated being compared to those entertaining seals next door. edward began to try acting like other animals that were intersting and entertaining to try and get attention and in the end he hears a visitor say that
Show More
emu is very impressive. so he goes back to his pen and to his surprise he find another emu and is happy after all being an emu.

Why i chose this book: i chose this because it shows how individuality is important. instead of trying to be like others the real import part is being yourself and soon you will be happy. this will send a great message to students and also be an entertaining story when you see edward act like other animals.

In this book Edward, who is an Emu, thinks that he is not special at the zoo. So, he attempts to be other animals in the zoo so that people will look at him. After trying again and again he hears one of the zoo visitors say "lets go look at the emu's!". Edward is so happy that someone wants to look
Show More
at him. When he gets back to his cage he realized that he has in fact been missed to much that they replaced him with another emu, Edwina. I would use this story to build classroom community to teach that everyone is special in their own ways and shouldn't try to be anyone but themselves.

Edward is an Emu. He's an Emu at the Zoo. And he's bored with being an Emu. (What do Emus do, anywho?) He overhears visitors at the Zoo extolling the merits of other animals and subsequently decides to become a Seal. Then a Lion. Then a Snake. And, finally, an Emu. And finds he's been replaced.

Which is a bit disconcerting. Yet satisfying.

Edward the Emu is a whimsical book about a goofy emu that pretends to be other animals because he feels like no one at the zoo wants to see an emu. After copying other animals, he realizes zoo-goers DO want to see emus, and he meets an unexpected friend in the end.

Edward lives in the zoo. He does not feel like he can become someone's favorite animal. When he overhears zoo guests talking about what their favorite animal is, he climbs in the cage with the animals. In the end he hears a guest say that the Emu's are their favorite animal. He goes back to his
Show More
cage with an Emu that has replaced him. This story can show children that they might not necessarly feel good enough, but in the end there will always be someone who likes them for themself.

THis is a cute little book that follows Edward around the zoo, pointing out all the animals unique traits and makes Edward realize that being an emu is just as good!

Edward the Emu is a story about a Emu who is wanting to be liked by more people. I thought it was entertaining by keeping you guessing what animal Edward would join next. I think this book would be suitable for grades K-2

Edward the Emu is a story about an Emu trying to find his place in the zoo and who he is as an individual. I found this book to be enjoyable because it is a heartwarming story of trying to fit in, which most people can relate too. I would suggest this book for grades K-3.

Edward the Emu is a very bored emu who thinks that being a seal would be much more exciting to be a seal. However, soon he overhears a zoo patron saying that they love the lions the best which results in Edward ditching the seals and joining up with the lions. This continues as Edward tries to be
Show More
many different species until he ultimately decides to be an emu once again. When he returns to his pen, he discovers a beautiful new emu named Edwina.

"Edward the Emu" is about an Emu who tries to imitate human's favorite animals at the zoo. He wants to be everyone's favorite. In the end he hears how one person's favorite zoo animal is the Emu so he goes back to his habitat to find that they put a female Emu in his cage to live with him.

I would
Show More
use this book in my classroom because it represents imagination and creativity. I could have the kids imitate their favorite animal.

Recommended age group: 4-8 years

Edward the emu is bored with life in the zoo. It seems that the seals have much more fun than he does, and so Edward decides to sneak into the seals’ enclosure to swim and sunbathe. But Edward is startled when a zoo visitor states he much prefers the lions to any other zoo animal, and so Edward,
Show More
thinking the lions must have it best, sneaks into the lions’ enclosure to roar and growl. Each day, Edward moves around the zoo to find the animal who seemingly has it better than the emu. However, one zoo visitor’s proclamation that the emus are his favorite makes Edward realize that he’s just fine with being an emu after all.

Readers will assuredly be entertained by the large, colorful illustrations of Edward tangled up with a snake, and the picture of an emu’s feet on top of a disgruntled lion’s head will make any reader giggle. Plus, the slight twist at the end will delight readers as well (and perhaps encourage them to read the sequel Edwina the Emu!). The story also provides a chance for adults to discuss with children about being comfortable with who they are, and this charming story of an emu who decides that he doesn’t want to be anyone else but himself is the perfect opportunity. Highly recommended. Grades pre-K to 2.

Edward the Emu is a great book about an emu who is tired of being an emu. I like this book because of the wonderful illustrations and the great lesson on staying true to yourself and would use it in my classroom to teach just that. This book is suitable for grade 1, 2, and 3 and the main theme is
Show More
being yourself.

This book is about Edward the emu who wants to be just like all the other animals at the zoo. Its a circular book because the emu goes around the zoo to be the next best animal but then goes back to where he began, which is himself. This is a great book for children because it is predictable and
Show More
has great pictures of animals. The age level for this could be kindergarten through 4th grade.
