Description

The great migration from Pennsylvania to the Piedmont of the Carolinas came in the middle of the 18th century. Scotch-Irish and German immigrants moved South along the "Great Wagon Road" through the Shenandoah Valley to Carolina looking for less expensive land and Orange County received a great influx of these new immigrants.
