Description
Poems celebrating Hispanic culture are the focus of this collection. Liberal sprinkling of Spanish words and phrases with some poems translated from one language to another make this an ideal anthology for both the English class and the bilingual ESL classroom. Topics for poems extend from hot dogs to learning English to the revolution in Nicaragua. What all of the selections have in common is the adolescent experience at the core of the poem.

Many authors, such as Sandra Cisneros and Luis J. Rodriguez, share their immigrant cultural experience through poignant poetry. Read poems that are both thought provoking and touch your heart. The poems paint vivid pictures of family, traditions, values, and experiences growing up in the US

This book is fool of poems that reflect what it is growing up latino in American and in parts of latin America. The poems were written in english and translated into spanis and vice versa; poems written in spanish that were translated into English. There are poems written by well known latino poems

This is a very mature read with some profanity and questionable content. It is a very typical look at growing up Latino in America.

I liked the fact the poems were written by teens and we diverse, yet cohesive.

Great poems and a great reminder that I need to sign up for Spanish language classes as soon as I'm done with this degree. Superb to read aloud!
