In this charming, scholarly, and insightful pamphlet, Lantero explores the feminine religious symbols, complementary with the masculine ones, in Jewish and Christian scriptures and thinking. She offers a historical review of the development of Western feminine symbols, from ancient religions through the 20th century, showing how these images reveal deep aspects of spiritual reality. While there is more scholarly information on the ancient images now than in 1973, her review and insight are still remarkable and valuable.
