This extraordinary and wonderful pamphlet is about the mythology of the African Bushmen, which is, he thinks, the earliest known "pattern of renewal," stories full of processes and symbols of renewal, that are still alive (in 1962) and accessible to us. He explains how our post-Enlightenment culture needs what such mythology has to offer. He tells four of the stories, with illuminating commentary.
