This is an interesting, wise, well-written pamphlet about Blom's individual journey of spiritual growth, and the role of art in it. Art, she says, is at its best a by-product of religious experience, a non-verbal language which communicates with non-verbal parts of ourselves. Art has the power to transform both inner and outer reality.
This pamphlet contains four reproductions of artwork, illustrating her statement of art as spiritual. One is the Head of Christ, by Rembrandt, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, which is amazing. Blom taught at Pendle Hill for years.
