Emilia Fogelklou (1878-1972) was a Swedish mystic, intellectual, feminist, writer, and teacher. She was far ahead of her time, and broke ground in a number of areas including social experiments, education, and the relationship between psychology and religion. A highly original thinker, she had a

remarkable capacity for making connections, sometimes by returning to primary sources and reinterpreting them in ways that eluded others. She was blessed with clear spiritual vision, yet managed always to keep her two feet firmly on the ground, and so was perhaps quite naturally attracted to Quakerism. This accessible, pleasingly illustrated biography, originally published in Swedish, was translated to English by the author. It includes a chronology and select bibliography, a glossary of people, events, and places, endnotes, and an index, mostly of proper names. --JMT
