John Kotzian has taken a man from obscurity and given him the accolades and the acknowledgment he deserves in writing Sky Pilot. His dedication and research is evident from page one.

William Law was a reverend who moved from Canada to Michigan and there built his home and ministry. But he was more

than a preacher at his pulpit...he gave his heart and soul, his money and his time to those in isolation. Lighthouse keepers, Light station and lightship caretakers all benefitted from his words and care. He pushed to get them small libraries all over the Great Lakes, and he wrote and sent newsletters to those starved for news of life on the mainland. Compensation for retirement, for death, higher pay....all was neglected till Mr. Law started pushing Congress.
Most importantly he himself is responsible for the groundbreaking of establishing our Coast Guard!
He listened, he talked he put his life at risk and he traveled hundreds of miles to maintain ties with the people who became extended family.
This is a slim volume packed with photos and history. Law was one man packed with love for men and women of the lights.
