While Stanley makes some great points here, he reduces our walks with God into formulas and lists. Discipline, don't get me wrong, is critical in the Christian life, but it is only a small part of that life, which must ultimately come from the heart and soul. Stanley puts too much emphasis on the

Christian rather than on Christ, which I think could be a touch misleading. Still, I found the book very helpful and well reasoned in many places, and I would not hesitate to loan it out if someone were interested (though I would more likely give John Piper's DESIRING GOD).
