Zion is one of the early congregations of the Synod. Its roots go back to Sept. 17, 1843. From the beginning, the congregation was served by both German and English-speaking pastors. On April 8, 1861, reorganization into two congregations took place. Both the German and English congregations continued to share the same building until the English congregation outgrew the original church structure. The English congregation proceeded to buy more land and built the present frame structure beside the original church. This building was dedicated May 8, 1892. In 1943, when it became apparent that there was no longer a need for a ministry in the German language, the German congregation united with the English and have worshipped together as one congregation.
