I read this book for the first time years ago. The characters are well developed and as a young woman the book appealed to me. The story takes the reader through three generations women in a family from Egypt. You feel the emotions of the characters as this history is visited through the eyes of a

grand daughter returned from the United States. It is an amazing story. My second visit to the book was as an audio rendition of the story. I enjoyed the book more as a young woman, perhaps because I'm older, perhaps it is just better without a narrator. Either way it is a very good story and I would definitely recommend this book.
