The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby is a book overflowing with potty humor befitting the sensibilities of its supposedly nine-and-a-half and ten-year-old authors and its real target audience. It’s also laugh out loud fun for those of us who can measure our age in multiples of decades – if

you’re not offended by the potty humor. If you are, the penultimate page has an offer to send the publisher a self-addressed stamped envelope, “And We’LL send you more offensive stuff.” The Flip-O-Rama animation pages delightfully fulfill the cover’s promise of “Action” and “Laffs.” All in all this a delightfully silly book.

However, the reader should be aware that there are other judgments on this title. According to Pam Santi, the Riverside, California grandmother whose request to ban the book was rejected by Riverside Unified School District in 2003, “There’s just no moral value to that poop character.”

"The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby" by George Beard, is about a baby that has laser eyes, super speed, and strength as his super powers. He fights against Captain Deputy Dangerous to rescue Caption Underpants. Captain Deputy Dangerous, and his accomplice, Danger Dog, set a trap to steel all of
Show More
Captain Underpants' powers by luring him to their Landry mat that they have set up to drain all of Captain Underpants' super powers, turn the powers to liquid, and then drink the powers leaving Captain Underpants depleted of any powers at all. Super Diaper Baby tries to save the day, but inadvertently drinks the power juice and become even more powerful. In the end, Super Diaper Baby uses the powers he drank and saves many others from bad guys.

Needless to say, after reading this book I was a bit aggravated with my son for reading so many of these books. There are many words misspelled, misused, and the content is mindless. Maybe I'm being to hard, but I want my child to be able to read books and learn while being entertained. I much rather My son read graphic novels like "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. I do have to admit that the illustrations in "The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby" are hilarious, and some of the content within is humorous, but I would much rather my son learn from reading. I realize that reading anything is better than not reading at all, but I think children need to be challenged when it comes to reading in order to increase their comprehension and vocabulary skills.

The reason my son reads these books is to increase his AR points. I think this would be a great way to integrate this particular graphic novel in a class room setting.

This book is about a baby named Billy who gets super powers! He has to save the world from Deputy Doo - Doo. Billy becomes Super Diaper Baby. He meets Diaper Dog. Deputy Doo - Doo invents a machine to destroy Super Diaper baby and Diaper dog. The diaper duo destroys him.

I would put this book in

Very similar to Captain Underpants (almost the same). This book is also very funny.

Well this book is about a new born that has super powers and saves the day. In my opinon this is a pretty good books to grades 1,2 and 3s. I really like how George Beard puts the text and i really like the flip-o-rama. Another good book written by George Beard keep up with the good work

I remember reading the Captain Underpants series years back, and it was interesting to return to an off-branch of the series. The humor is juvenile, but something that I know third graders and fourth graders would get a good laugh out of.

I am not a fan of graphica. There were also some words that were spelled incorrectly which is something I would not want to use around early readers.

The baby became a super hero and the baby had just got out of his mom's tummy. This book is good for people that like funny books or picture books.

Mr. Krupp forces Harold and George to write a 100 page paper on good citizenship. The result? A new superhero named Super Diaper Baby who finds himself in a battle with Deputy Doo-Doo and Danger Dog (who's just in it for the kibbles).

If your principal told you to write a 100-page essay on good citizenship what would you do? Well, fourth graders George and Harold use their crafty comic book creating skills (last applied to the “Captain Underpants” series) to create a new super hero- albeit this one just slightly younger and

diaper-clad. Replete with the requisite bad puns, misspellings, and Pilkey’s “flip-o-rama” feature, readers will delight in Super Diaper Baby’s Herculean efforts to thwart the evil deeds of “Deputy Doo Doo” (aka Deputy Dangerous), a rather determined “piece of poo”. Not the most appropriate of books- beware of LOTS of potty humor; children ages 7-10 will enjoy laughing to themselves and with friends while surreptitiously reading the comical graphic novel in the corner of the classroom or library. Perfect for reluctant readers, Pilkey’s child-like drawings convey the action with as much humor as the witty text. Not all parents will appreciate the style of the writing, but kids will- and guess what? They love reading it.

This is a good book to engage students in reading. Beard and Hutchins did a great job in entertaining their readers. One down side of this book is that you don't really get much from it apart from laughter. This is a good book to get students interested in reading.

Written as an near-spinoff of The Adventures Of Captain Underpants, The Adventures of Super Diaper Baby serves as a fully-realized version of the comics that George Beard and Harold Hutchins allude to in the Captain Underpants series. Although not as multifaceted as the Captain Underpants series,
Show More
it is a fun diversion, and a welcome departure from the norm, which Dav Pilkey is wont to do.

Captain Underpants' powers are stolen and accidentally given to a baby and a dog.

Love the drawing lesson in the back and the dog that wasn't really bad made me laugh. Again there was a lot of gross out some of which did not appeal to me but I could see little kids loving (I have a vomit issue).

Again the bad spelling really bothers me. Totally made me nuts.

As a punishment handed down by their principal, fourth graders Harold and George are required to write an essay on good citizenship. The result is a comic book whose main character, Super Diaper Baby, saves the world from the evil Deputy Doo-Doo. Silliness abounds as Super Diaper Baby defeats the
Show More
deputy by wrapping him in toilet paper. The infant hero wins, but Harold and George still find themselves in trouble with the principal. The comics are illustrated in black and white with child-like handwriting and numerous, deliberate misspellings, adding to the juvenile comedy. Though the humor is off-color, it is presented in an age appropriate way that will have your younger readers giggling for certain. If your readers enjoy Captain Underpants, they are sure to love Harold and George’s new creation.

Wonderfully silly! Anything that gets my son to read... although, I have to read this to him since it is set up as a comic book written by 9 year olds. The spelling is mostly phonetic and difficult to decipher for someone just learning to read.
