Can one boy make a difference? This title attempts to answer that question, while providing an interesting exploration into the role that children may have played during the Nazi occupation of France in World War II. Paul, 14, hates the Nazis for taking away his basic freedoms. While he uses his

artistic skill to create maps for the French Resistance, he never feels as though he’s doing enough. He longs to join the Resistance soldiers in the woods as a member of a group known as the Maquis, but he stays behind to help look after his younger sister. Jablonski provides a quiet family tale that is reflected in Purvis’s bright, sunny art, which will surely disarm readers expecting a grisly World War II story. The characters are well developed and complex. The artistic style is reminiscent of animation storyboard, and the completed work translates well as a graphic novel. Younger readers will probably enjoy the art more than the story, which is somewhat slow-paced and anticlimactic.

Its actually a complex story with many iteresting characters. Interested to see how the series develops.

The story remains compelling as this book covers the most difficult part of the war from the perspective of those living in a village in France.
