A beautiful book of photographs of Jewish children before and during the Holocaust. The text is written for young children. It's very sad. While I think that children need to be exposed the the reality of the Holocaust and other atrocities, I'd be hesitant to read this book to a young child unless

Holocaust remembrance was already part of their life. An older child, however, might be interested.

SUMMARY: It tells the story of the Jewish children during the Holocaust and what they went through dealing with the Nazi's. Also, has the actual pictures during that time which tell their own story.
PERSONAL REACTION: I thought it was a sad having to see what those children went through just

because of their beliefs. On the other hand, it was a good book because it reminds us again about our history.
EXTENSION IDEAS: Children could create their own books on the Holocaust.

Summary:
This book was about the families that were Jewish and were dealing with the Holocaust and what they went through. The book described how hard it was back then for them and how they were treated.

how it was for those children. This was a very sad book but very good.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
This would be a great book to read to the children in a classroom when they are learning about the Holocaust. To see that children that are the same age or younger were treated so badly.

up real emotions. The pictures showed the depth of the suffering that these children had to endure. A true trubitue to the strenght of survival.

Classroom extensions: Can be used for history to show that everybody suffers in war. Can be used to show the harsh relaities of racism and hate

I have mixed feelings about this book. I think that it is a great way to show children what people have had to go through, but I feel that some of the pictures are a little too much for young children.

"This book is dedicated to the children whose lives ended during the Holocaust and to the photographers, known and unknown, who risked their lives to record their story." Book Dedication

These are compelling photos who tell the story of the Holocaust's impact on the children.

This book was very sad, and it made the story of the holocaust even more real, if possible. It was nice to put faces to all of the stories heard about this time in history.
