Rose Naftalin was a fixture in Portland, OR, where her food and especially her baked goods (mile-high cakes!) were justly celebrated. She is gone now, and the restaurants that bear her name are a shadow of what the NW deli was when she ran the kitchen. The recipes are interesting but too rich
