I read the bible with this commentary and that of Bible literalist Halley, which balanced each other's weaknesses. Asimov has a lot of information about the tribes that the various names in the geneology lists stand for. It is annoying that he determines some dates by assuming a prophecy that came

true happened after the event it prophesied. You don't have to believe in God to realize that some prophecies will come true by chance alone and that those are the prophesies most likely to be recorded for posterity. Show Less
