This book is awesome and funny. It shows how punctuation is a very important to sentences. The book at the end shows all the reasons and definitions on why some of the punctuation acts as it does.

This book illustartes if you use the wrong punctuation in your sentences, the point of what it is that you are saying will be confused. For example, "This is Sharky, who lostr a tooth." versus "This is Shary. Who lost a tooth?" These are both illustarted to make you see the diffrence between the

two statements. Some of these comparisons are humorous and fun. I think it could be a fun way to introduce punctuation marks to children, while actually showing them through the book how it looks correctly and incorrectly.

This book is a great way to teach punctuation and sentence structure to students. It is filled with examples of why punctuation matters and how it changes the meaning of things. I would love to use this in english class. I think this would be great to read-aloud and then have students write

sentences that can be changed with punctuation.

This is an amazing book for teaching students the importance of punctuation. They can also compare the same sentences with punctuation marks moved around... the change is drastic. Students could create similar sentences by switching up the punctuation marks.

Retelling: This book gave twelve examples where changing the punctuation in a sentence changes the meaning of the sentence.

Thoughts and Feelings: I want people to be able to read what I write and know what I’m trying to say. This book taught me how punctuation can help me do that.

Why is punctuation necessary? Maybe because it can change the meaning of what one says drastically! Question marks, periods, commas, and semicolons are very important because it can ultimately affect what one is trying to say and get across. By reading, "Twenty Odd Ducks," one will understand the

importance of using correct punctuation. Communicating correctly with other people can be done smoothly if one uses punctuation correctly, thier emphasis on certain points will be present, and the meanings will be precise and clear in sentences they speak or write.

I like how tho book shows how important punctuation is, but i didnt like some of the illustrations because they were a little graphic for a child.

This text utilizes clever means to help with punctuation problems. Each page contains a phrase and a picture whose meanings change with the presence or absence of punctuation marks. Though probably used in an elementary classroom, I use this text to review punctuation with my own students. It is a

great way to introduce a somewhat touchy subject.

This book tells the importance of punctuation. It shows how when used incorrectly the meaning of the sentence can change. This is a great book to read in English to help learn how to use punctuation correctly.

Another cleverly done children's book by Lynne Trusse and Bonnie Timmons about punctuation! The examples and illustrations are colorful and fun, and I like the list of explanations in the back of the book too. Cute letter to the teacher in the back of this book as well.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! I, myself, am a grammar nut. I love how the author used every piece of punctuation in the same sentence while showing different pictures as to what they meant. I would use this book in ANY class. Ah, I love it!

Just hilarious and a great way to illustrate to children why punctuation matters in writing and the importance of using it correctly.

Oh, how I love Lynne Truss. A companion book to the children's version of Eats, Shoots and Leaves. I think my favorite is this one:

"Do you know who came last night? Santa Claus," said my mom.

"Do you know who came last night?" Santa Claus said. "My mom."

Love, love, love this book, as well as all of Lynne Truss's grammar books! This picture book is a companion to Truss's adult grammar book, Eats, Shoots & Leaves, and it covers a range of punctuation marks. For every two pages situated next to each other, the same sentence is written out, but
Show More
punctuated differently. There is an illustration for each sentence that shows the meaning. This makes clear to all readers how important punctuation can be. Take the title, for example. "Twenty-odd ducks" means "about twenty ducks". "Twenty odd ducks" means that there are twenty ducks who are all odd. One little hyphen makes a big difference!

This book is appropriate for 3rd grade and up. However, it would be very effective in middle and high school where students are moving into more complex sentence structure in writing, and will have the need for lesser-used punctuation marks, such as the hyphen and the semicolon.
