This was a lovely book to read to my 2 1/2 year old grandson. I had recently taught him about parades, and he had just visited the zoo with his parents this past weekend. All of this was captured in reading this book after which I made him a triangular hat out of newspaper. Too bad I didn't also

have a horn.

I love the illustrations, some of which are true-to-life, such as monkeys hanging by their tails from tree branches, and others which are silly, such as a lion combing his hair/mane. I like the black-and-whiteness of the pictures which gives the reader a chance to imagine the colors within a forest. I'm of the" old school" where .I like to leave a lot up to a toddler's imagination. I like this book "oodles". :)
