Over in the Meadow is about animals and counting. Throughout the book, the animals count how many are swimming, playing, and flying. The numbers are through ten. The animals introduce their babies, and they slowly increase. This book is fun for children because they can say along the numbers. They

In the meadow there are many different animals you can find. All the mamma animals have their babies with them. As the book goes on the number of babies go up, from one to ten. In the book the repetition follows as each mothers story starts the same and ends the same.

This book has great rhyme and

repetition. This is a great book to teach children their numbers. I think this book would make a great addition to a school’s library.

In the classroom I would like students to make a group effort to come up with their own poem in order to learn their numbers. I would also like for children to go out to a meadow, with adults, to see what other kinds of animals they can find.

Ezra Jack Keats' mixed-media, collage style illustrations accompany a classic counting nursery rhyme in this book. With beautiful pictures depicting nature and animals, ths focus of this story is very much on the pictures. This is a great book for very young students or those who are learning to

In Over In The Meadow, Ezra Jack Keats adapts a classic nursery rhyme and interjects it with beautiful and unique illustrations. In a typical Keats style, he uses collage and vibrant colors to make the text come to life.

Personal reaction: This book is great for introducing young children to animals and their habitats. Also this book would be great for an early vocabulary lesson for first graders.

This book is a beautiful poem illustrated by Ezra Jack Keats. I am adding this to my personal bookfile, but not for Pierce College credit because the animals talk in this book.
