The latest in the Pigeon series this book is quite relateable for those who REALLY want something, but when nose to nose with the new responsibility, discover they would like something different. Unfortunately the style and story is very similar to the other books in the series, and it a bit too

predictable. The best thing about the book is the contest it created -- and the opportunity for children to guess what the Pigeon would want.

I mean, they just set such a high standard, really....

The thing is, my nieces don't find the jokes in this one that funny. I mean, they get them, but only once I kinda wink at them and highlight that "hey, that was just a joke", and it's not... that worth it.

Still a good book, just not as great as

the others.

oh my gosh, what a cute book. this pigeon really wants a puppy and he tells you over and over again in this book, he also lists reasons why he wants it and why he thinks he should have it. in the end he gets a little surprise, which i find the funniest part. i smiled the whole way through this book

and the kids at my daycare love it too. the simple pictures went with the big bold sentence on the page or on the opposite page. the book is big and wide and easy to read.

I thought this was a really cute book. I've seen the pigeon books before but never read one so I had to pick this one up. It's a story about a pigeon that really, really wants a puppy. he finally gets one and it wasn't quite what he expected so he then decides he wants a walrus. The illustartions

are really cute and I think this is a great book for really young readers. The words are really big and they aren't too hard so it's a great learning to read book.

This is great as an interactive read aloud for primary kids. As in other Pigeon books, kids know something unexpected awaits, and they are not disappointed. As for the greatest strength, it’s a tough call! The uncomplicated text is so precise in expressing the character and nature of pigeon. And,

the simple kid-like illustrations are so expressive the reader is readily drawn into pigeon’s world.

The pigeon wants a pet puppy, but he doesn't quite understand the work that's involved. He thinks that he should give it water and sunlight just like he would a plant! He begs for the puppy and thinks of all the fun things that he could do with it, like ride it or take it to play a game of tennis.

However, when he gets his wish, he realizes just how big and scary and slobbery the dog is, and he changes his mind. He no longer wants a dog...he wants a walrus!

A fun follow up to Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! in which Pigeon decides that he really wants a puppy. Be careful what you wish for because when Pigeon finally gets a puppy it is not at all what he expected! Children aged 3-6 will enjoy this funny story.

This book is a very easy read, and would be great for a first reader book. the author shows how badly the pigeon wants a puppy, but once the pigeon actually sees how big and sloppy the puppy is he changes his mind. He now wants a walrus!

The Pigeon wants a Puppy! Really, he does. After politely introducing himself, he will tell you exactly that. And then he will proceed to get himself very, very excited about it. And he runs through the gamut of emotions, including obstinate! While he is busy proving his little self to the reader

and dreaming of puppies, and even having a tantrum...he doesnt notice the big, scary, hairy, tooth-filled, barking, snarling, intimidating MONSTER that has just arrived.....oh wait, its just a puppy. Maybe he will reconsider after all....

I think these books are really fun because it speaks directly to the child. I would read it to pre-k up to 1st grade. It addresses what every kid at one point wants, which is a puppy. The children will be interactive with this book and start to say no to the pigeon, and will most likely realize

that they say the same things as the pigeon.
