Simple, line drawings depict a fun day at the beach with a boy Henry, his dog Mudge and dad. The story shares with the reader the positive relationship Henry has with his dad and dog as well as the carefree adventures they embark on at the sea. An endearing story for early readers.

The text is pretty straight-forward and easy to read, and it is nice that it is broken down into 4 chapters. The illustrations and text combine to create a really engaging text, and children will love reading this novel. It would be best suited for shared-reading or independent reading time. These books will make the students feel as though they are not just reading little kid books because it is presented like a chapter book.

The 6th of the series. A wonderful collection of vignettes depicting some adventures at the sea. I really loved the tone and characters, especially the dog named Mudge who wears a red hankerchief around his neck.

I have a lot of respect for Henry's mom. In some ways I want to be her, with a big porch & yard & trees, and long dresses and bare feet - but I don't want a huge slobbery dog, thank you.
