This story was about helping children learn the months of the year. The children are suspose to make a list of all the things they want and when October first gets here there will be a celebration. On October first the children will be able to play with everything on their list. This story teaches

children to have patience and it also teaches children the months of the year.

This is a story by Dr.Seuss about a holiday known as the "First of Octember" in which all of your wishes come true. I always enjoy Dr. Suess books and I believe that they are enjoyed by a very large percentage of children. I believe that these books are so enjoyable because of how the text is

presented. The stories are written completely in rhyme which become almost like a song for students. I believe that it is easier for young readers to read and follow text that rhymes, and the text itself becomes more memorable for them. I also believe that students will be attracted to this book because it is one in the collection of Dr. Seuss books. I believe that since children will recognize the author and the structure of the book, they will be excited to read a story that is familiar to ones that they have heard before. Lastly, I feel that the illustrations are fun and vivid, which would really attract young readers. I definitely would like to use many Dr. Seuss books in my own classroom.

On the First of Octember, anything and everything can happen!

Yet another book from my childhood revisited as I reorganize my bookshelves. This one also had a nice little bonus: a piece of lined writing paper with my dad's name on it in what looks a lot like my handwriting. Even now, the 'e' gives

it away. That, or my sister and I started out with very similar writing styles due to parental influence. Still, nice little memento.

This book didn’t have much learning content; it was more about asking and receiving. It was an interesting book but I feel like it was more about entertainment than teaching children about something.
