This book is a wonderful chapter book to begin children on. The novel has beautiful pencil drawings as well.

This early chapter book explains the history of the sinking of the Titanic and the children help a brother and sister get out of the third passage. Good basic introduction to history.

Jack and annie travel through their tree house to the night of the titanic sinking. Helping a girl and her little brother on the boat they receive a gift and make it home just in time.

This book teaches a little and gives entertainment, always a good mix.

This book is very sad but the ending is very peaceful.

Whew! Happy day! I read the entire chapter book (okay, yes, it is a children’s book) in Spanish! I’ve been reading a collection of fairy tales in Spanish, now, but I think I’ll try another MTH in Spanish next during our trip to Utah.

Review: This book is an excellent example of fantasy because it describes the world as we know it and fantasy. The magic tree house transports Jack and Annie to the deck of the Titanic to find a mysterious gift that will free their puppy from the magic spell.
Character: Jack is a good example of a
Show More
main character because he is dynamic and changing. We follow him throughout the book and feel as if we know him by the end.
Level: Intermediate

This story is part of a series about a Magic Tree House that can travel in time. This allows the brother and sister, Jack and Annie to be a part and do things in a different place. It really gave you some detail about the Titanic. It was easy to understand the worry and danger without being over
Show More
the top for younger readers. It has black and white shaded pictures that have detail. These also help you feel apart of that time and lets you see what it might have looked like. I liked the book and will probably like others in the series. The author includes a list of other stories with a little description. She also includes a introduction so in case you don't start with # 1 of the series. It lets you know how Annie and Jack got the Magic Tree House.

I love Magic Tree House books. Mary Pope Osborne does a lovely job connecting fiction and non-fiction for young readers. This is a book written at the second grade level, however can be used or readers in the higher grades as well for content use and genre studies.

When Jack and Annie climb up to the tree house, they find a puppy and a letter that says that they have to complete missions to rescue that puppy from a curse. So, Jack and Annie find a book about a ship, and they go there. Jack and Annie looked around the ship and they saw the name of the ship,

and it said: R.M.S TITANIC...

Tonight on the Titanic is # 17 is the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne. Is about Eight year old Jack and younger sister Annie is awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of rain saying. They sneak out of the house to the tree house in the woods. This is a magic tree house filled
Show More
with books. The children need only point to a book and make a wish and they are whisked to that time and place. Arriving at the tree house that night they find a dog and note from the tree house's owner, the enchantress Morgan le Fay. The note tells the children that the dog is under a spell and they need to collect four items to free him. The first, a gift from a ship lost at sea.

This was the first book that I read from this series and found it be very good. I now want to add the series for my kids in the further.

Tonight on the Titanic could be use when talking about a little about the Titanic. You could use this book to talk about ship wrecks and famous ships.

Okay, I know this is supposed to be an exciting adventure series, but they really don't need to get on just as the iceberg's hitting and leave just before the ship sinks. My biggest issue, however, was that they supposedly help save these two kids. Changing history is a big no-no for time
Show More
traveling, so they either didn't change history or did mess things up.

Summary:
This is about two children who have a magic tree house and they can point to a book and go inside it. They had to go on a mission on a ship lost at sea and ended up on the Titanic. It proved to be an interesting night as they saved two other children that didn't know the ship was sinking.
They received a pocket watch from the older girl they saved and brought it back with them. The pocket watch was a gift and meant to break a spell the dog was under.

Personal Reaction:
I thought this book was an interesting way to see history. I think death can be a hard thing for children to understand so I think it would depend on the age group if I would read this book to children. Ultimately I liked how it seemed to keep true to the history of the Titanic.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Teach a lesson about the history of the Titanic
2. Write stories about if you could go into any book what would it be and why.

History can be fun and have a twist that can grab students and this book does just that. Tonight on the Titanic has some historical elements to it but puts two fictional characters into the story. The main characters Jack and Annie have to race against the clock to get their mission done. This is a
Show More
good book for students who are starting out reading chapter books. The few Illustrations still allow readers to get some sort of visual while they are reading. This book can appeal to many different types of readers due to the many aspects in the book. This adventure can continue because this is a series and readers can fallow the many adventures of Jack and Annie in their Magic Tree House.

I really enjoyed reading this Magic Tree House book. I have only read one or two before this one, and it reminded me how engaging it was to read. The plot of this one specifically really drew me in because I am always interested in reading about the Titanic, so hearing it in a children's story was
Show More
very interesting. I enjoyed reading about how Jack and Annie had to help the young girl and her brother on the ship in order to receive their gift before returning home. By having them help someone around their age really pulls the audience and makes it seem like a more realistic situation, even though we all know it is not. The main message of this book is it is good to remember how grateful we are for what we have and keep in mind that people go through tragedies like the Titanic all the time.

success.
Personal Reaction
I enjoyed this book. I am starting to see how beneficial the magic tree house series really are.
Idea Extension
This could be used to teach children about the Titanic.
This could also teach the concept nothing is impossible because the Titanic was supposedly impossible to sink.

educational.Just as the boat hits the iceberg they still have not solved the mystery. The story ends with Jack and Anna having solved the poem puzzle. Now they are getting set to go to the next trip.

Personal Reaction:The magic tree house serious is very fun and educational. It very easy to read, and very easy to comprehend.I would recommend to anyone to read this story

“Tonight on the Titanic” is a fantastic chapter book I know many children enjoy reading. As a kid, I had every Magic Tree House book there was and couldn’t wait to collect the next one. Therefore, reading this book brought back so many awesome memories, while pretending to be on the same
Show More
adventures with Jack and Annie. The writing in this book is both familiar and informative to children. The language is simple for children to comprehend, but also informing of the history of the Titanic. In addition, the characters, Jack and Annie are relatable and engaging. They don’t always agree, just like all siblings, specifically speaking, when Annie ran off with the flashlight without her brother. They come in constant contact with many tough decisions; yet always seem to make it out in the end. The main message of this story, along with others in the series, is to encourage readers’ imaginations to run wild, while portraying the story of the Titanic.

I thought this book was very fun AND informative. I would have my students read this book to learn more about the Titanic and what happened that night. Also, I liked the little bit of poetry that was incorporated into the book.

Jack and Annie are on another adventure, and this time the magic tree house takes them aboard the Titanic! This historical fiction allows readers to learn about what happened on the titanic while also read an interesting story about Jack and Annie. It is most appropriate for intermediate readers.

This book is about two kids who go through time to find a puzzle. The kids name are Jack(The boy) Anna(The girl) Jack and Anna are twins who live in pennsylvania,USA. The kids go to a histroric day in the past. They go to the Titanic. The day that the biggest boat in the world got sunked to the
Show More
ground. They had to find a piece of a puzzle to figure out the mystery. Well Jack and Anna are on a boat that hits a iceberg that starts to make the boat sink and Jack and Anna are running out of time to find the puzzle piece. They make it back to pennsylvania alive with the Puzzle poem since they discovered the puzzle. Now they have to go to a different place which is the Civil War.

This book was good because since I was 7 years old I read them and I still read them today. Further thoughout the series the length of the book got fatter as in more pages. Book #40 between 100+123 of a book length. One thing that I did not like is that the author would explore the earth then write the books is a geologist. I say that because she has a note from author saying that she did this.Thats why I say this book is nice.
