This is the famous story of Johnny Appleseed. It tells how Johnny wore a pot on his head because it was easier than carrying it on his back. He carried seeds around to plant to make it more friendlier for the settlers. Johnny was very young as was the U.S. It tells how he lived outside and how he

made many friends. It also tells his real name of Johnny Chapman, and how he got his name of Johnny Appleseed.

The kids enjoyed this book I think because they were interested in how he lived outside, and planted lots of trees.

The kids as an extension did apple prints in the art center.

Johnny Appleseed by Patricia Demuth is a great biography for children because it tells of the life of Johnny Appleseed and his life. It shows all the benefit he did to the environment and his reasoning behind that. It also inspires children to be little environmentalists and also how trees help the

environment.
