The unicorn has left the lake, and between the draught and the evil snake, the animals are all dying. When they cry for help the unicorn returns, fights the snake, and takes the poison out of the water. Magic also comes back to the land even as the unicorn leaves. The illustrations are gorgeous.

one after all these years with startling clarity. I loved the illustrations and would stare at them forever while reading and re-reading this book.
