This book was very funny, yet clever. The wife was very witty and the farmer was very lazy however once he finally got out of bed, things were accomplished and everyone was happy. I think that this is a very good book. I think that promises are something that aren''t really understood until the

later elementary grades. This would be a very good book to read to a class that is around fourth grade because they would really get what the moral of the story is.

asked to help, one day wishes for his pigs to just disappear so that he can get his rest. The next day, he finds that his pigs are gone! He begs his wife for help, but she refuses saying, "On the day that you jump out of bed, put on your clothes, and promise never to be lazy again... on that day, I will help you look for our lost pigs." And the farmer does exactly that - jumps out of bed, puts his clothes on, and promises (and keeps his promise!) to never be lazy again.
