I love these types of books. The information comes in bite size snippets and entertains at the same time. Pretty pictures, too! It gives just enough information on things to allow you to waste days googling the things that you found interesting.

I'd trust the facts in this book (as of 1972, anyway), but I'd toss out the editorial opinions appearing in the text, especially relating to possibilities of alien visitation. The selections are adequate, although they do seem to center on lost civiilizations that I, for one, have never heard of,

and do not include such mysteries as probable life seven or eight miles beneath the ocean, or the Loch Ness "monster." Neither are there stories of archeological findings of such ancient wonders as the Colossus of Rhodes, or where those blasted golden gospels of the Mormons could be located. Show Less
