In this book, a girl's baby brother is born at the zoo and her parents keep bringing the wrong kind of baby home. Finally she sets off on her bicycle with a flashlight on her head to retrieve her brother and save the day. All mommies are reunited with their babies in the end.

This book is engaging
Show More
in classic Munsch/Martchenko style: zany storytelling, colorful illustrations, and the perfect balance between pattern, detail, and the unexpected. Great for reading aloud.

This is a story about a family that goes to the zoo instead of the hospital to have a baby by accident. They get home and realize they have an alligator baby, then they go back to get the right baby, but keep getting different baby animals, until the daughter finally brings home the real baby.

Another weird book by Munsch.

Kristen's clueless parents drive to the zoo instead of the hospital when her mom is in labor. Three times, they ignore their daughter's warnings that their son is another's, and three times they get whapped in the face by the not-a-people-baby.

Finally, Kristen has to
Show More
save the day, which she does in a quick and admirable way (the illustrations in the zoo are funny in and of themselves, by the way). Everybody gets their own baby back, and we're told that everything is fine from then on... until Kristen's mom had twins. (Uh-oh.)

This book is so absurd, you can't not love it. I really recommend it to anybody having a second child. It's a wonderful change of pace from standard "new baby" books.

Un bebe Alligator was a pretty good book. I had to read it for french so it's deffinatly not the kind of book I'd regularly read. I think I found it really boring because it's written for kids way younger, but it was alright.

This was about a mom who's about to have her baby but her husband
Show More
accidently drives her to the zoo. She accidently brings home a baby alligator instead of her son and when she does her daughter realises.
Basically this happens with a seal and gorilla too. At the end the daughter goes to the zoo and finds her baby brother.

It was alright, easy french read. Recommended only for french book reports. Bye for now!

Picture Book:
Another funny Robert Munsch book about a family that mistakenly goes to the zoo instead of the hospital to have a baby. They get home and realize they have an alligator baby, then a seal baby and finally a gorilla baby, until the daughter finally brings home the real baby.

Reaction:
I really liked this book cause it is fiction with a touch of reality. It puts a funny twist to a very important day to a big brother/sister!

Classroom Extension:
1) I would read this book when a student is soon to have a new little brother/sister.
2) I would have a discussion with the students about what other kinds of baby animals might be cool to have.

This book is about a girl named Kristen. Her mother was having a baby in the middle of the night. Her mother and father got lost and couldn't find the hospital, so they have Kristen's brother at a zoo. When they got home to show Kristen her baby brother they realized that it wasn't her brother it
Show More
was a baby animal. After all the babies animals that her mother and father bring home they realize that they lost Kristen's baby brother. So Kristen went to the zoo and finds her baby brother and finally takes him home. I think its a good book for little kids and its good picture book as well.

Alligator Baby is a picturebook about Kristen and her family. Her mom is having a baby and the whole family is excited. On the way to the hospital her parents get lost and the mom gives birth to a healthy baby boy in the zoo. But they soon realize they brought home the wrong baby, they brought
Show More
animals from the zoo! After several attempts to bring the new baby home, Kristen takes matters in her own hands and rides to the zoo on her bike. She finds her baby brother and brings him home. All is well until all the mother animals come to the house looking for their babies.

This book is a personal favorite of mine from my childhood! I love this story because it’s silly and entertaining. The illustrations really bring the story to life and show the characters’ emotions.

This book could be used in the classroom in a sequencing unit. The teacher could write the different events on pieces of paper, scramble them up, and have the children put them in order. This book has different kinds of animals that you would find in a zoo so the class could be split into groups and each group does a study over one of the animals in the book.

Summary:
This is a fantasy children’s book written and illustrated by Robert Munsch. This book starts off with a mother yelling she is having a baby to her husband. They then get ready and go to the hospital but end up at the zoo. After the delivery they took the baby home to their daughter
Show More
Kristen. Their daughter says that is not her baby brother but an alligator. It only gets more comical after this.

Personal Reaction:
This book is very imaginative and comical.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. This book offers a very repetitive plot. I would use this book to teach younger children on how to listen.
2. I would also use this book to break tension in a classroom environment.

Kristen's parents accidentally have a baby at the zoo and bring home anything but a human baby. The parents return to the zoo multiple times and never bring back their baby. Kristen has to go there herself to retrieve her little baby sibling. This book is sure to make any child laugh. The silly and
Show More
crazy ways of the parents are comical.

I liked the book "Alligator Baby". I like the plot of this book. The parents have their baby at the zoo instead of the hospital and have a baby switch, only the older brother realizes what has happened and that all the babies are confused. I also love the illustrations. They are whimsical and
Show More
funny. They add to the tone of the story. The big idea of this book is getting a new sibling.
