Description

"New York Times bestselling author Joel C. Rosenberg returns with a high-stakes political thriller set in Russia. Everything he learned to protect the president, he must use to take out theirs. With an American president distracted by growing tensions in North Korea and Iran, an ominous new threat is emerging in Moscow. A czar is rising in the Kremlin, a Russian president feverishly consolidating power, silencing his opposition, and plotting a brazen and lightning-fast military strike that could rupture the NATO alliance and bring Washington and Moscow to the brink of nuclear war. But in his blind spot is the former U.S. Secret Service agent, Marcus Ryker, trained to protect but ready to kill to save his country"--

Marcus Ryker, a U.S. military veteran and former Secret Service agent, is dead set on preventing what is likely to become nuclear war in The Kremlin Conspiracy, a novel by author Joel C. Rosenberg.

So. This is the third thriller I've read by this author, and given that I see a needed sequel in this

one's future, I'm not ready to say too much about what's in it. Indeed, I'm barely even ready to exhale, after the ride this novel took me on.

I finished it in much less time than it usually takes me to read books of this length, but that's happened with me and a Rosenberg read before. I almost didn't like how "on edge" I was through a good deal of this one, as there were times when I practically balked at turning a page, not feeling ready to see what would happen next. But, of course, I couldn't hold out for long. Had to keep turning pages.

I will say this, though. The storylines of two key players (Marcus, along with Oleg Kraskin, a senior aide of the Russian president) progress simultaneously through the years in this book, and I somewhat prefer Oleg's storyline, considering how it develops/affects his character. Marcus's storyline, though it even went so far as to make me cry in the middle of it, seems to suffer a bit more from the chunks of years that pass. The story briefly brushes over what must be some major turning points in his family and spiritual life, and it does so after the fact, more than once.

But on the whole, this thriller had me all in. Now I'm waiting to see what more must be coming...

In a near-future high stakes political thriller, tensions in North Korea keep the American president from noticing the portentous rise of a Russian leader seeking to restore the glory of Russia, leaving an ex-Secret Service agent trying to prevent global disaster.

The action-packed plot is

frighteningly believable and plays on the tensions between the United States and Russia as it builds around two young men rising in their parallel careers. The unfolding of events is likely to leave readers hoping this tale of intrigue does not foreshadow actual events.

Recommended.

My rating is 5+ out of 5 stars.
For me, Joel Rosenberg’s novels have been not just entertaining thrillers, but also thought provoking! If you haven’t read any of his writings, you truly are missing an author

who weaves threads of various characters’ views along with action, intrigue and mystery to carry the reader away into a world full of suspense!
In the Kremlin Conspiracy, the author slowly introduces readers to the land of Russia, politics, military and the characters who inhabit the story that is beginning to be unveiled. The story flips from that to what is happening here in America to a man known as Marcus Ryker. He excels in military engagements and eventually ends up in the Secret Service. Markus also marries, begins a family and meets a man by the name of Oleg who he crosses paths with later, but I am getting ahead of myself. Plus, I can’t review everything or what would be left for the reader to discover?
Meanwhile, in Russia, there is man who is so multilayered others around him aren’t sure whether he can be trusted or feared. President Luganov isn’t just running the country; the man sees himself as a Czar without boundaries and able to rule, manipulate others, get rid of his enemies and so much more. Each page and turn of action in the book unveils another spiral, twisting further into the darkness of this current man and others who are afraid of him. Where he is leading Mother Russia might be extremely dangerous and not just for the people of Russia!
Reading Joel’s books is a bitter sweet experience, because I enjoy them so much but know that as soon as I turn the last page, the countdown begins before his next book is published! The novels are so well researched, written and crafted for people that they are worth the wait every time! So, before another book comes out, read his novels and then share them with family or friends. Tell them about these suspense filled, military, political thrillers that are sure to keep people turning pages for hours!

I had never heard of this author before so I had no expectations. Honestly, I was bored through most of it but since I love a spy/adventure novel I continued. This isn't even close to a Tom Clancy Russian/Soviet political thriller. As others have pointed out the main character is an evangelical

Christian. This does not bother me at all and it is nice to see other religious perspectives in novels. The novel ends on a cliff hanger and I absolutely despise novels that do this. I will not be picking up the continuation.

Whew! What a wonderful novel! As usual, Joel Rosenberg, has written a fast-paced, breathtaking, super exciting novel. My wish is that one day, a director will take one of his series and make them into movies. As long as they stick with the story, it will be a blockbuster!

This novel is the first in

a three book series. Mr. Rosenberg has a way with telling a story that really draws you in…you feel like you are right there, feeling every bit of tension, action, and thrill. At one point I was so overwhelmed, I had to just close it and take a breather. Wow! I love books like this.

My goodness, this was an action-packed read. At the start, I had no idea where the plot was going but I soon found myself enjoying the two storylines - one in Russia, the other in the USA. Although, Marcus and Oleg lived on opposite sides of a political conflict, the tension and excitement cranked

up when their lives collided.

I have always been a fan of novels set in Russia in "The Kremlin Conspiracy" did not disappoint. With political intrigue, twists and turns, secrets, suspense, betrayals and lies, this was a difficult novel to put down, especially considering what is happening between Russia and Ukraine at the moment; it was the plot very plausible. The ending was a cliffhanger and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
