This is a great book for a beginner reader in kindergarten or first grade. The sentences are simple, yet very informative about the animals. It discusses various animals and what they are called for when they are born. For example, baby horses are called foals. What I like about this book are its

clear, and vivid photographs of the animals. I could use this book in a reading class. With my students having trouble in reading, I could pull them aside and have them read the book out loud to me. For science, students can use this book to learn about what to call baby animals. I could also use it to show them examples of living things or the classification of animals.

This book tells the reader about different animals, what they are called as babies, how big they are, what they eat, what they can do and how long their mommies take care of them. I really liked this one. It was short, but the information it contained was very cool :-)

I would use this book with

students to demonstrate our likenesses and differences with other creatures.
