George and the man with the yellow hat go camping, playing in the woods, George gets lost. He ends up being sprayed by a skunk, sees a forest fire, threw bucks of water on it to put it out. Get's a bath to get the skunk smell out. Learns what a safe campfire looks like and roasted marshmallows. As

Genre: Fantasy/Realistic Fiction

Review: This book is apart of a series of books about a curious monkey. The author has created a book that could be fantasy as well as realistic fiction because in real life this never happened, and usually someone wouldn't see a monkey doing all of what he did in

this book. However, it is possible for a monkey to do what he did by putting our campfires with water and climbing trees to dry off.

Media: Watercolor and charcoal pencil, reproduced in full colo

Such a cute book with great pictures about the adventures of camping. George goes into the forest and explores with the animals. He finds what he thinks is a kitty, which is really a skunk and he gets strayed. George puts out everyones campfire and gets into a bunch of trouble. Great ending and

good book to read to kids about the safety of fire.

I liked this book. I liked that the main character is an animal and the rest of the characters are human. I can remember getting in trouble when I was little and feeling like I was just completely different than my parents, and did not understand why they were so mad. It makes the story relatable.

I also like that the author used a lot of short sentences, and very little inferring had to be done to understand this book. For example, “George was happy to help. It would not be hard to set up a ten, he thought. But it wasn’t easy!” The central message of this book is that you should not be wondering around places that you are not familiar with, without an adult.

I believe that this book is a great children’s book for several reasons. First, the characters were very well developed. I say this because the author gives human like traits to an animal, being George the monkey. It is a realistic story that could happen to a human but definitely not to a

monkey. The storyline was very well developed as the author presented a suspenseful plot. The plot of the story keeps readers on their toes as you are not sure what will happen to George next between running into the woods, being chased by forest animals, and being sprayed by a skunk. The well-organized plot is supported by illustrations that allow for the readers to understand the storyline. Also, the illustrations help to display the expressions of each of the characters. There are illustrations that display George’s emotions when he is scared, worried, excited, curious, and many more. The message of the story is to not wonder around in places that are unfamiliar to you as it could be very unsafe.
