The Reasons for the Seasons gives great explanations of how the seasons work and simple and clear pictures of how the earth is positioned to the sun and how it looks during that season. The level of reading is at a simple text so that early readers and English Language Learners could really

understand and connect with the information being covered in the book.

I would use this book with my students to teach them about the seasons and how the seasons work according to where the earth is positioned to the sun.

This is a book about how the seasons change. The Earth's movement around the Sun is responsible for the seasons changing. A great way to introduce a unit on Seasons!

Retelling: This book explained why we experience seasons each year. It also explains why some places in the world do not experience seasons.

Thoughts and Feelings: It is hard for me to picture the earth’s rotation around the sun. I would like a model that I can move like the hands of a clock.

Why do we have four seasons every year? We have summer, winter, fall, and spring; all of which are different. What causes these crazy changes? In "The Reasons For Seasons," one can explore why our yearly seasons are so. Who knew that the axis tilts more during certain parts of the year which

affects our climate? It is interesting to know how our solar system works, and how it became known that this is the real reason for seasons. It is important to understand why things are the way they are. Not only will one find out about the reason for our yearly seasons, but he or she will find out how these different seasons affect the animals around us because we are not the only ones the weather affects! It is important to understand that everything in our world has a purpose which will eventually affect all living things no matter what.

This is a pic book, that is nonfiction. The pics are really nice drawings. This book tells the reasons why we have seasons each year and gives facts about the seasons. I also thought this book was neat because it explained why some places do not have seasons. Ages: 7-9

This informational text begins with a basic description of what causes seasons (the earth’s tilt on its axis and revolution around the sun). It then proceeds to describe each season specifically, including characteristics of that season. The book is fully illustrated with only a few sentences of

text per page (that is, per page that actually includes text). The language is reasonably easy to understand for elementary students, although some concepts (such as cause of the seasons) are covered in late elementary. However, the descriptions of the seasons are appropriate for young elementary students, and overall the book offers significant, age-appropriate information on the seasons, what causes them, and how they impact the world and its people. This might be more engaging for students if read aloud in class, because otherwise very young students might find it difficult to focus on and to read.

The pictures in this book were vibrant, attention grabber. This book explains why we have different seasons in our world; children learn that the different seasons are caused by the way the earth is positioned. Overall, informative book.

Why is there winter in the Southern Hemisphere at the same time there is summer in the Northern Hemisphere? Here is an explanation of how the position of the Earth in relation to the sun causes seasons, and the wonders that come with each one of them. Summer. Autumn. Winter. Spring comes again.
