This book is a great example of an informational book. because it is sharing the information with students that everyone is different. The illustrations and words show that everyone is different but no matter where they are from or what they look like...we are all Americans!

Classroom Ideas:
1. I would use this book during a American History unit.
2. Extending from this book with an older group of children I would have my class look up different countries and do a report of each country they choose.

This book displays pictures of children of different race/ethnicity with different eye colors, hobbies, them doing different activities. Can help students realize that although some students do not look "white" they can still be American. Some students who look African American, Hispanic, Asian,

Lebanese etc. can still be American. Some pictures are silly, while others make an important point that all people of all different backgrounds, races, can still be American. Students of all different backgrounds share this term of being American.

A good book which celebrates the diversity of America. Excellent pictures illustrating the many faces of America. While we may look different and like different foods, music, and clothing, we are all still Americans.

"I am America/I am proud/I am diverse/soft-spoken/and loud." The powerful poem in this one-of-a-kind book is enhanced by the accompanying photographs that represent children of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. The playful images and touching poetry work together to tell the story of America.
