Orphan Molly Moon discovers a book called "Hypnotism" and begins an adventure in which she learns how to hypnotize people and things to get what she wants but in the end discovers that friendship and helping people are most gratifying. After leaving the orphanage in England to find her best friend

Rocky, Molly becomes famous but trouble follows and the two devise a way out of blackmail from the crook Professor Nockman and eventually return to save the orphanage. Perhaps a good read-a-loud and motivator to read the rest of the series in the spirit of Harry Potter.

Molly lives in a horrible orphanage in England and dreams of greatness. When she finds a hypnotism book, she learns to hypnotize her way out of the orphanage and to New York City. While the reader did a good job on the voices, I found Molly as a character rather unappealing.

It's about a girl who finds a book about hypnotism. I liked the story but not as much as the sequels that were more exciting.

I really liked this book because you never knew what was going to happen next. There were lots of suprises, such as when one charachter hypnotizes the other charachter in to believing for a moment that he hypnotized her into imagining the first half of the book just to get her spirits up and make

her realize that as bad as her situation is, it could be worse. He does this to make her realize that as bad as things are, they could be worse. I also liked the moral points the book brought up, such as the fact that, if hypnotism existed, although hypnotizing people would certainly be bad, what about hypnotizing them to cure a phobia or make them feel no pain during a surgery.
