I have been eagerly awaiting this book and pre-ordered it so it would be delivered on release day. So worth it and the only bad thing is having to wait for the next book! If you have not started the Blue Bloods series it's one you should definitely check out. For those who are already fans of the
Show More
series one thing I did not realize going in is that Schuyler and Jack do not play at much of a part in this book. Mimi is the primary character and she ends up teaming up with Oliver and Deming, one of the Chinese twin Venators that we briefly met in an earlier book. Together they have to try and track down who is kidnapping blue blood teens and burning them to death while streaming it live on the internet.

The story line

Mimi is now regent of the New York coven and she is on a rampage. She wants Jack killed but she has to put vengeance aside when a Blue Blood teen is kidnapped and someone sends her a link to a video showing the teen tied up and a message saying that she will be burned to death. I suspected who the killer/kidnapper was but why he/she was doing it will leave you intrigued and wanting to know more in future books. There are also little excerpts of Venators back in the 15th century hunting down silver bloods and end up finding humans that are marked with the sign of Lucifer. You are given hints as to what is going on but not the whole picture and how that ties in to the murders in present day.

The Characters

I loved this book but I've heard some people were disappointed that Schuyler and Jack did not play a bigger part. They are off in Europe searching for the gates and trying to evade Mimi's bounty hunters. They uncover another mystery but we do not get any answers in this book.

I was a big fan of Mimi, she is one of those characters who is so bad and yet you can't help but be fascinated by them. It was great seeing a softer side to her in the last book but in this one she is on a rampage. She wants Jack hunted down and killed for leaving her for Schuyler. The kicker is she did not even want him anymore but after losing Kingsley she admits if she can't be happy in love why should anyone else be?

Deming is one of her coven's best Venators and comes to New York to help Mimi track down the kidnapper/killer. She seems like she is going to be an interesting characters in future books and I can't wait to learn more about her.

Overall I found this book fascinating and there is a lot of set up for exciting developments in future books. It's going to leave you wanting the next book right away!

I really enjoy this series it had been getting better with each book but this one just seemed to be missing something. She started the storyline about Jack & Schuyler then seemed to forget about it only to go back and give us a couple pages that seemed like an afterthought.

I did like Mimi in this
Show More
book she grew alot and became a little more likeable which is a big step for a character I once called unredeemable. I also really enjoyed the character of Deming and look forward to more of her in the next book. The storyline with the Conspiracy was interesting and sometimes made me giggle how she shows all the stuff they made up to fool the red bloods. Mimi & Oliver’s storyline was good and it will be interesting to see where that goes.

I look forward to the continuation of this series I just wish this one would have been a little longer because I feel that I missed out on so much of Jack & Schuyler’s story.

This is the fifth book in the Blue Bloods series by Cruz. There is a novella due out for this series in December 2010 called, Bloody Valentine; the sixth book is going to be titled, Lost in Time, and is planned for an October 2011 release. This was the weakest book in this series by far. The story
Show More
doesn't progress much and we are only given painfully short glimpses into what is happening to Schuyler and Jack. Many of the major players from previous books are not even mentioned.

The book starts with Jack and Schuyler and we get a brief glimpse of them escaping captivity and taking off to try and find the last gate. We don't spend much time with them before Cruz switches to telling the story from Mimi Force's perspective. Mimi is now leading the Conclave and trying to solve a crime involving an internet video that shows a vampire being burned alive; if she can't figure out where the information is being leaked she is in trouble. The Conclave is threatening to take the vampires back underground. After hearing about this for a while we switch to another perspective, this time from a new character named Deming Chen. Deming is a Venator from Shanghai that is trying to help Mimi solve this case.

Jack and Schuyler don't get much page space and this is disappointing. Blyss is left out of the story completely, leaving me puzzled as to what has happened to her. It does look like Cruz is trying to expand the storyline by telling more of it from Mimi's perspective and by adding in the new character of Deming. Mimi is quickly becoming a favorite character of mine; as a reader you begin to sympathize with her in this book and learn more about why she is who she it. Deming looks to be a promising character and brings some interesting background to this story.

As with all of Cruz's book this book was well-written and easy to read. I just felt like Cruz is either running out of ideas for this series or confused about where she wants to take the story. This was such a short book and briefly touched on a number of things without really advancing the story. Very much a transition novel.

Overall I have really enjoyed this series, but this book left me somewhat disappointed. I don't feel like much happened, it was kind of boring, and I felt like this was more of a transition book or a book where Cruz was confused on where to take this series. So, it was okay but not great. Hopefully the sixth book is better because if the sixth book is like this book...well then I am not sure I will keep reading this series.

This was, once again a great read.... however, I am starting to want this series to end so I don't have to keep waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book. It seems like this series is never going to end. Don't get me wrong, I love the series.... I just wish there was more in the books than a
Show More
little glimmer of a story.

This book was divided into three parts, or rather, three views: Schuyler, Mimi and Deming.

Let me just say that i am a Schuyler and Jack fanatic.. I love their team-up and that despite the odds, they are together.. I love that Jack (the angel of destruction, no less) is so sure of his love for Sky
Show More
that he will not allow anything or anyone to come between them. Speaking of which, Mimi in this story was quite a revelation. Her character development has reached a wonderful note. She is no longer just the spoiled rich kid or just the avenging azrael who demands the death of abbadon, her twin and bondmate for several lifetimes except this one. She is a woman who fell in love, real love, with Kingsley Martin. She is a woman who has learned to think of the red bloods as more than a food source. She is a woman who, as the regent, has the future of the entire New York coven on her shoulders. Enter Deming Chen, a Chinese venator, who will help Mimi with this new threat facing the coven.

I absolutely loved the fact that this book was focused on these three independent and strong ladies. Can't wait for the next book.

The Blue Bloods series is definitely a guilt pleasure of mine. It's much more interesting, at least to me, than much of the vampire fiction out there. What makes me like this series even more is the fact that de la Cruz has found a way to grow her characters throughout each subsequent novel. In
Show More
fact, in this novel one of the characters I'm predisposed to hate because of events in previous books turned out to be the one I was the most interested in -- and almost grew to like. I cannot wait for the next book.

Book number 5 in the Blue Bloods series, by Melissa de la Cruz, is just another story in a seemingly endless series. I enjoyed the first four and read until my eyes hurt but this novel just left me with more questions and less answers than the one before. I enjoy the characters and the way de la Cruz weaves a story of vampires made from fallen angels and their fight between the "good" fallen angels and the "bad" ones. However, this story felt like it really went nowhere.

I so hate giving such a low star but I feel this book didn't give us anything. Anything at all!! The story did not progress and well I was disappointed. What was in this story could have been a few chapters in another book with way more details and progression. I am so glad I did not pay for it...

Misguided Angel picks up where the last one left us, Schuyler and Jack have run off to try and figure out an answer to their problems, and protect the gates from Lucifer. Then on the other side of the world we have Mimi dealing with the loss of Kingsley, and a new (somewhat odd) threat - vampires
Show More
are being killed, and videos of their deaths are showing up online. As the enclave weakens, more secrets seem to surface.

There is a two fold to what I like about this series. What I like is that it doesn't follow the same characters throughout the whole novel - the chapters switch perspective, which can be good. The reason I don't always like it is because the timeline doesn't always seem to fall together cohesively enough for my brain to make sense of where I am. There are times where I felt out of place in the story, which was confusing.

In the end, the plot I was most interested in was the mysterious vampire slaughter going on back in the states. As much as I may love Jack and Schuyler, their plot just wasn't pulling me in this go around. Deming Chen, however, really interested me. I'm not sure if it was because she was a new character, but I was just super into all the plots that revolved around that.

Overall, this was a pretty good installment in the series. Sometimes I do wonder how all these events are going to play together - what once seemed slightly simple in the first few books suddenly seem a lot more complicated.

MISGUIDED ANGEL, by Melissa de la Cruz, is the fifth novel in the Blue Bloods series. This book is much shorter than the rest but still contains the same action and romance that makes this series one of my favorites.

The setup of this book was three different sections (equaling three different
Show More
point of views). The point of views highlighted were Schuyler, Mimi, and a new Venator vampire Deming. My favorite part of the story was Mimi. In The Van Alen Legacy I was beginning to warm up to Mimi after Kingsley and her started canoodling. In this book, an unlikely friendship starts between Mimi and the heart-broken Oliver. It was nice to still read about Oliver even though Schuyler was not present.

An aspect of these books that I enjoy each time I read a new one is the different point of views. I really like getting into the heads of these dynamic characters and Melissa's writing always keeps me coming back for more.

The only thing I disliked about this book was the length. The other books are usually upwards of 400 pages where this one did not reach 300. I wished it was longer! I sped through the pages and was left wanting more. But fans of this series will definitely like the continuation of their favorite characters lives in the midst of a war against the Silver Bloods.

I am excited to read the next installment of the series, Lost in Time. And in February the novella, Bloody Valentine, is released for more (hot) Blue Bloods romance.

Not the best Blue Bloods book but it still kept me on the edge of my seat. I was afraid for a moment that Oliver and Mimi might get together, which would be horrible in my opinion but thank goodness it didn't happen that way. I can't wait until they go and rescue Kingsley in the next book because
Show More
he was one of my favorite characters.

But all in all, another satisfying read from Cruz.

the vampires to the public, and Bliss is nowhere to be found. Instead of Bliss, we are introduced to Deming, the Angel of Mercy, who is brought on to help solve the mystery of the murder for Mimi and the Coven. All hell is breaking loose and Mimi, Schuyler and Jack all have things they need to resolve.

Review: The last few books in this series have been a little anti-climactic; this one however, was a quick read. I liked that Bliss wasn’t around, not that I don’t enjoy her character, but for too long have there been 3 point of views which got disruptive. In Misguided Angel, we start with only chapters of Schuyler and Jack and then a batch of only Mimi, which some historical snippets along the way… we aren’t pulled to the 3rd character until Deming comes to New York to help Mimi and she isn’t overbearing nor annoying to ‘listen’ to.
I was a little upset that again all of the story lines are kind of left hanging, but there was a good tale that did end and had a great twist at the end. All of the pieces are slowly coming together and I have the next one from the library already, going to start reading soon.

Almost done with this series, I'm surprised it has kept my attention for as long as it has. The Schuyler Jack storyline just has me completely disinterested, so I'm glad that this book was dominated mainly by Mimi Oliver. I'm quite enjoying the character growth Mimi is undertaking, no longer the
Show More
vapid spoiled rich girl. I think they're headed for Oliver Mimi = love? It totally works.

I don't feel this book really help added anything to the series. It certainly didn't advance the plot in any way- it felt more like a filler book. Schuyler might as well not even appear anymore. She's boring, lifeless, flimsy and her everyday conversations with Jack are so dramatic. I still can't
Show More
believe Jack abandoned his bond with Mimi for a relationship with absolutely no spark. My favourite part of the book was the section that followed Mimi. She's the only character- along with Oliver- who seems to be developing and reacting to her sitatuation. I don't really understand why a third of the book followed this random character called Deming- we learn nothing about her and she adds nothing to the story. Over all, the book felt a bit pointless and was a let down.

I am so addicted to this series. Its actually frustrating because I am so tired of vampire stories. But the way Melissa de la Cruz writes its hard not to be completely drawn in.

Okay she is really dragging this story out. Nothing happened in this book to move the plot along. NOTHING! Come to think of it nothing happened in this book at all. What's up with that??

I began to really like Mimi in this book. She seems more "human." She truly cares for the Coven, and it's members. She also realizes that she doesn't really hate Oliver all the much.

Oh, Deming. She's a kick-ass Venator. She does her job to the best of her abilities, and doesn't give up. I
Show More
completely forgot she was a key player in this book.

Schuyler annoyed me. I think it's because she is so needy when it comes to Jack. I'm used to her being strong and self assured.

We get a peek at Nephilim, and I had a ton of questions regarding possibilities with Bliss after I finished reading.

It was great seeing a lot more of Mimi showing emotions that do not include snobbery. I want to start Lost in Time NOW! But I'll be a good girl, and wait until December 1st to start it.

It was ok. I like the idea of the series. The vamps that are really angels/fallen angels thing. But really I don't care much for the books.

Hey only thing that changes in this book is some people die and you learn about new baddies. Um that's it.
