This is an excellent book if you like playing Jacqueline Wilson bingo, the number of sad and traumatic things squeezed in its slim pages is many! April has had a miserable life, so on her 14th birthday she bunks off school to go and look at places she has lived in the past and try to work out a bit

more of who she is and where she is from. Dealing with themes of unwanted pregnancies, abandonment of children, maternal suicide, children's homes, burglary and PTSD, it's a bit heavy at times!

But like all Jacqueline Wilsons it's easy to read and engaging and pageturning, and despite the many grim things that have happened to April the ending is sweet and hopeful.
