The book that I read was Lake of Souls by Darren Shan the book has 263 pages. The setting is at the lake at night, most of the action takes place at the lake in winter time. Darren, Harkat, Debbie, and Vancha are the main characters, I do think the characters are kind of believable. Darren was the

character I liked the most because he was so confident of himself and solve the mystery. I couldn’t relate to none of the characters there were vampires and mysterious that’s kind of freaky. I have felt the same way Darren felt when he was on his way to the lake scared, but sure about himself. The problem in the story was that the vampaneze had Mr. Crepsley’s soul, the resolution was when Darren, Debbie, Vancha, and Harkat when to the lake to fight the vampaneze for Mr. Crepsley’s soul. There where several main events in the story like when Darren and Harkat got into a fight with each other because of the vampaneze. When all of the characters fight with the vampaneze. The vampaneze get Debbie and Darren has to safe her, also when Mr Crepsley was wounded and the vampaneze were going to drink his blood, but he fought for his life. What I like about this book was the vampires and when they fight. The thing that a would change about the book would be the title a would name it “The Lake of Vampires”. What I learn about this book was that you should fight for your life and to save others. I think my sister should read this bike because she loves to read books about mystery and vampires. My rating to this book is pretty good, and I wish the book hadn’t ended so soon.

The Lake of Souls was written by Darren Shan and J.K. Rowling. Darren Shan has written more books then just this one, he has written all the series of “The Saga of Darren Shan” that is from book 1 thought unknown. The Lake of Souls is the 10th book of the series. J.K. Rowling has too written

some of my favorite books, the Harry Potter series, books 1 thought 7, all these books are the kind I read because they really make you think and imagine the situation, and about things that are not proven of existence such as vampires and magic and other unimaginable things and mythological creatures.

This book takes place mostly at a place which no one knows where it is. The place is unknown to either Darren or Harkat, because they are the only ones that are there. There are different places where the action happens, and that inside a jungle, where that fight a panther that is kind of revolutionized and ways smarter and bigger than normal panthers, at a swamp, where they have to fight giant alligators and toads, and a huge worn at some kind of town, and dragons, who where the ones that were guarding the lake of souls. The time of the year is unknown since they could not keep track of time in that other dimension.

The main characters are Darren Shan and Harkat, but both characters can never be real because Darren is a half-vampire and Harkat is something that they call a little person, which is like a human body kind of shape but with very different characteristics. Darren Shan has always been my favorite character in a the Darren Shan book series, because he is the one that goes through the most action and feel that I can relate with him in some way. One of the reasons is that I have felt the way he feels in some part of the story, and that would be how I would react to a situation like that.

This two people have a huge problem with Harkat, since he is a little person, he used to be someone then died, but his souls stayed trapped in earth and made a treaty with Mr. Tiny to get a body and come back to live and gave another chance of when they die again they will be freed and go to paradise. Well, the whole thing is that Harkat can not remember who he used to be while he was alive and while he does not know who he was, he would have horrible dreams and stand up while sleeping and scream and destroy everything that is in his way, and if they did not put an end to that Harkat would eventually die. To find out, he would have to the lake of souls to go and fish out his soul to know who he was and then the dreams would stop. Then at the end they ended up fishing up his soul and found out who he was. Mr. Tiny takes Darren and Harkat to another dimension, they both fight against an almost impossible to kill looking panther, then fight against giant toads and alligators, kill an enormous worm very dangerous looking, escape from thousands of deathly spiders, go though a very rough path across the jungle, and fight against dragons.

I just love this kind of books, because the authors have a lot of imagination and that’s the kind of literature that I prefer, I would never change anything about this book. This book showed me that friendship is a very important thing, and I think that everyone should read these kinds of books, because I think it really help you with your imagination, and as Einstein said, “imagination is more important than knowledge.” This book is extremely good, I couldn’t put it down!

After a desperate battle to kill the Lord of the Vampaneze in "Killers of the Dawn" Darren and Harkat set off to the Lake of Souls on a mission to uncover Harkat's true identity.

As usual, no trek with these two is easy. They must face many obstacles and challenges along the way. Mr. Tiny will not

make it easy for the pair to reach their destination and uncover the truth.

New to the saga is a family of dragons standing in the way of the answers Darren and Harkat are desperately searching for.

Once again this book in the series has lots of intrigue to keep you turning the pages and waiting for the next book in the series to learn the fate of all of the characters you've gotten to know throughout the series. I really liked this book. Very twisty ending.

Another enjoyable book in the series. This one was better than #9, IMHO.

In The Lake of Souls, the 10th book in the Cirque du Freak series, Half-Vampire Darren Shan and Little Person Harkat Mulds set off on a quest to discover the person that Harket used to be, before Desmond Tiny remade him into a "Little Person". As they step through the mysteriously glowing arched

doorway, suspended midair in the middle of a field, to the strange world beyond, they have no idea of the kinds of odd and fantastical creatures they will soon encounter in the land beyond, nor if they'll even make it back alive.

This was another great but fast read in the Cirque du Freak series, which is very nearly at the end. Book 12 is the last in the series. Though it's been several years since I read my last Cirque du Freak book, the author is great about dropping in extra description at appropriate points to remind you of past events when necessary. It may even be easy enough for a new reader to pick up any book in the series without having read the previous ones, though they wouldn't know the characters nearly as well as someone who's followed the story from the beginning. As usual, the writing style is swift and the action is quick, which I believe makes it quite suitable in the young adult genre, and definitely had a hard time putting it down once I started reading. I have a library book I have to tend to now, but I look forward to returning to the world of Darren Shan again really soon.

At first I was upset with the direction that the plot had taken but before I knew it, I was sucked in all over again. I enjoyed the story very much and can't wait to read more.
