G. Willow Wilson brings us another great chapter in Kamala Kahn's life. Ms. Marvel's profile is increasing. Her superheroing life is more complicated after joinging the Avengers, and she still has school and her family to think about. What happens when you try to do everything at once?

Wilson does a
Show More
great job of tying Kamala into the greater Marvel universe, but keeps it at a comfortable distance. Even if this is the only Marvel book you read, you won't find yourself lost.

The 5th installment in the highly acclaimed Ms. Marvel series did not disappoint. Kamala Kahn has finally become an avenger and couldn't be more excited. Well she could be, if she had time to be excited. She's struggling to balance her home life, her school life, and her superhero life. She's

practically sleepwalking through everything. When she discovers that her best friend has a girlfriend she is upset, her's her boy!Trying to juggle everything is proving nearly impossible so she makes some clones to help her get through the day, only problem is they keep replicating! Now she's in more trouble than ever. Another fun installment.

Kamala Khan is having problems keeping up with her life, between being a superhero and living her life she's divided up a lot and she wants to please everyone, and then she's being used as the poster girl for a new development that's driving all her friends away. life is complicated and knowing

when to ask for help is hard.

Interesting stuff, will have to backtrack and read the previous one to fill in some story gaps.

I really liked the subplot Kamala's brother's marriage, and that the characters are growing, even Zoe, the former mean girl.

Another fun issue, though it did inject some outright sitcom-style goofiness. I loved the new character Mike, and it was great to see Kamala's brother develop through his new relationship and the serious cultural and religious issues involved.

Volume five begins a new set of Ms. Marvel storylines where she's pretty well established and even became an Avenger along the way. It actually has two stories told in sets of three issues, beginning several months after the events of Volume Four. The first one is about her fame being used without

her permission. I love that it talks about gentrification of neighborhoods and her use of the word "colonize" instead when fighting back against the corporation coming in. Still, winning doesn't quite solve her problems here and I also thought that was a great touch. Sometimes winning doesn't feel like winning.

The second set is a story about having too many things that you want to do to fit into a day for too many days in a row. What's a superhero to do? Also, I love her interaction with Iron Man and Captain Marvel at the end. Again, her family is great in these issues. I love the way they react to just about everything.

I think this might have been my favorite Ms Marvel so far -- particularly the issue where the Big Bad is gentrification! So thoughtful and timely and relevant, but FUN!

I would happily give this five stars if it weren't for the fact that I find the art style a bit sloppy/inconsistent for my personal

tastes.

I've enjoyed previous volumes of this title, but this one left me cold. Though this is volume 5 of the trade paperbacks, it collects issues #1-5 of yet another Marvel numbering reboot. While the writer is still on board, she seems to be trying to take the book in a slightly different direction by

amping up the wackiness. Ho-hum action sequences are driven by brainwashed neighbors and clones of the protagonist. A couple of romances are introduced, but are handled too quickly and abruptly to have much impact.

In the previous comic, Kamala's family's old friends move back to town with their attractive son whom she is interested in until she finds out that he is using his Inhuman abilities for evil things and plans on overtaking Queen Medusa. He kidnaps her brother and exposes him to the Terrigen Mist

that gives him powers that he must find a way to deal with. Her and Bruno have a conversation about their relationship where she tells him that they can't be more than friends because of what she does.

Now she has been busy working with the Avengers. So busy she hasn't noticed that Bruno is dating a girl named Mike. Jealousy rouses its ugly head. But she doesn't have time for that. A relocation organization is using her face to promote it causing bad feeling in the neighboorhood. They are wanting to change the neighboorhood into something different and are handing out purple goo drinks that are causing people to turn into zombies.

Dr. Faustus is behind it all and now he has Bruno working for him in a zombie state so Kamala goes to Mike for help. In another comic, Kamala needs help with being everywhere and Bruno finds a way to create more than one of her. Her brother has found a woman to marry and she's not being there for him or for her friends or for school as she's trying to be there for the Avengers. Of course, things get out of control quickly and she finds that she needs help.

This is a great series and this comic delves deep into her emotions as it shows how she feels about Bruno who has moved on from her to someone else who happens to be really cool and you like her so you don't necessarily want him to break up with her to get with Kamala who still doesn't seem to want to be in a relationship as she doesn't have time for one. And this book explores the differences between two cultures and races marrying as Kamala's brother's bride is African American, but Muslim, yet her family is Christian. I really loved this book and give it five out of five stars.

Living the dream of saving the world with the Avengers takes it's toll on Kamala Khan as she fails to keep up with her school work and her friendship with Bruno. Meanwhile, the most evil supervillain comes to Jersey City bringing gentrification, and using Ms. Marvel's image to promote

redevelopment. Ms. Marvel must save her city and find a way to balance her priorities.

It was a mistake to wrap up the cliffhanger from Volume 4 into another comic series, or at least to set Volume 5 so many months after. It's a jarring tonal shift, and it's just not the same. I didn't care for the Avengers stuff (but I suspect that's my own personal biases at play). I did, however

love Aamir's storyline and the inclusion of Mike. I think, though, that Nakia has been put off to the back burner so long that I feel that she's been poorly served in the story--or at least, not given an opportunity to grow in the same way that Bruno has. If this series continues to require me to read other comic series, I'll have to stop. It's such a shame, too.

Ms. Marvel has hit a f***ing FABULOUS stride. This had the perfect character depth and development, cameos, and fight scenes. I love love love Kamala.

Great just great! Lots of action in this one between Hydra showing up and a ton of Kamala clones. Even Bruno has a girlfriend!?!?! As usual, illustrations are wonderful and loving the series all together.

I didn't read this volume exactly, I read a dozen of the floppies (labeled #1-#12) I got from someone on an exchange group. After hunting around and realizing that Ms Marvel (2014-2015) is different from Ms Marvel (2015-2019), I'm pretty sure they're in here? (I seriously don't get how mainstream

comics work.)

Nice art! I teared up reading her brother's wedding! Also, this has reminded me why I don't read Marvel and DC comics --- they're boring!!! Superhero comics all eventually recirculate the same 5 plots with the same 5 characters, and while I liked Kamala's family a lot, maybe the most of all, it's not enough to keep me reading more of the same! old! shit!!
